Welcome to ultimate drumming calm. I'm Joe McCall. I'm going to show you this real cool sounding 12 eight Phil. First I'm going to play it for you. Then I'm going to break it down note by note and show you how it works 123123123123 When playing these great sounding 12 eight fills, you got to be thinking at 12 a time. The 12 eight times signature means you're playing 12 eighth notes in a measure.
And each eighth note is getting one count. Be like this 1-234-567-8910 1112 not counting all the way up to 12 can be a mouthful, especially when you get into the numbers that have more than one syllable. So a shortcut would be to count 123123123123 like so. Go 123123123123 when I'm playing this outstanding 12 eight, Phil, I'm playing with both my hands in unison. However, the hands are being separated. So my right hand is playing on one drum while my left hand is playing on another drum.
It's gonna go something like this 123123123123 now when I'm playing this combination, I'm going to break the pattern up by playing six eighth notes in unison on one pair of drums, moving to another pair of drums. Another six eighth notes in unison. Now if I'm counting up the three, I'm going to add the foot on the one of each grouping of three that I say it would go like this 123123123123. Now once you get comfortable with that tempo, we're gonna pick up the speed a little bit. So I'm gonna play two measures 12 eight Phil two measures 12 eight beat two measures 12 eight Phil, two measures 12 a b, go like this 1-231-231-2312 Another excellent 12 eight Phil that you can add to your drumming repertoire. I'm Joe McCall.
