So let's talk about the lighting. Let's have a look at some shopping lists it flashes for those 400 pounds I'm going to show you exactly which ones flash trigger you need one of those a 70 panel system I'm going to show you allows you to set your flashes up in a small studio. And then you can control the power of the flashes from your camera with a special trigger, and that's why I'm recommended the setup. Another thing you're going to need to consider is eneloop batteries and a charger you're gonna want 40 of these batteries because you have four flashes. So you want at least a double change. So if if all your flashes run out at once at 16 battery's gonna have to recharge your box.

And now the next slot comes out of the 32. If they go you've only got eight left. So as you can see 40 batteries gets used up really, really, really fast. In fact, you might want to consider stretch into 48. So you've got three sets of changes. And then that way because we're setting this up in a budget, we're going to use flashes we're going to use a simple flash system.

That way, you've always got a set on charge as well. Like stand you're going on for days you can get 48 months or 40 pounds again overtime and prove those. And I'm okay with cheap light stands for flash because that not that heavy, but we use a strobes which we're not talking about in this course, that would be completely different. And then we're going to want some ankle weights, we'll show what they look like in a moment. And they're gonna add some weight to the bottom of your stance. So don't fall over on clients and stuff, which is obviously something you want to avoid.

So we've got some more items. Now we're going to recommend so you by free shoot for umbrellas. You buy a silver umbrella Some umbrella mounts that will attach your umbrellas to your stands at 24 softbox 24 inch softbox at least one of those two is better but you can get away with one and we're going to want some black flags and craft shops which are a one size couple of those will be 10 pounds. Then we're gonna want the black foamy thing now the black foamy thing is a piece of black felt essentially with some hair bands. And we can use that to create little snooze and things like that. And if you want to know how to use a black foamy thing, the guy called Neil Neil van Nye Kirk, I think his name is go and have a look at Black foamy thing online and have a look at his stuff very interesting.

There's another thing you can create is sticking the cans in a small space and essentially, is you get some old paintings. You get some six foot two by one pieces of wood. Stick them in the can And then you fill him with concrete again, have a look on YouTube for sticking accounts and you'll find some tutorials how to make them. They're really good for clamping stuff to like flanks and stuff and they take up no floor space, unlike standards, so we want to use flags or anything like wasn't sticking the cans. And then you might want to allow some black cloth for walls over paint the walls. If you're allowed to do that, if you're not allowed to do that, then what we can do is put up some black cloth on a wall with some simple mounts and just buy some general black cloth material.

40 Pounds either side, you're done. So we're looking there about 775 pounds 70% of dollars. That's an estimate, of course. So check it out, create your own shopping list and see what it comes in and that sounds like a lot of money. But when you consider this, my studio strobes sure I've got six of a foreigner pounds each with no lighting modifiers So, I've got 3000 pounds you said you can do the whole thing modifies notes and everything you need to get going and start your business. On the lighting side of things of that total.

Now there are a couple more things we're going to need to buy. I want to keep in perspective. So what lights Am I going to recommend? Well, this is what I'm going to recommend on the canon, you'll find similar setup on the Nikon, but this is the best system. Now it's the young Neo y n 600 x RT u by flashing the trigger together 260 pounds. equivalent of dollars obviously check the prices though.

The flashes 100 pounds each. Now, that sounds expensive. I want to put in perspective, the Canon version of this, I think they're about 300 400 pounds each. This is a third to a quarter of the cost and they do exactly the same thing. And I've used these for years I've used an older version of this. I used the why and 565 X and it's a great fun It really is never let me down.

I've used it commercially, the build quality is just as good as canons from everything I've seen. These ones that what this will do that little trigger members tend earlier, that little trigger, that's the thing on the right, that will allow you to control these flashes. From the back of your camera, when you're in a small space you're normally climbing over stands in front of the client or anything. You've got one light maybe at the back of the room and we showed earlier shows in different lighting setups later. If you've got one light setup, and it's you're in a small space, he needs to get to it to change it and you can't see the back and it's a nightmare. This will do the trick for you.

The only limitation with these is you can only set free groups. So that means you can have free sets of lights, but that's sufficient most of the time you'll be shooting with free lights and other times when you are using two lights on the same Group, you can just change them. Now learning how to use flashes and the ratios and everything. Basically, we will show you some settings when we go through course later on but really it's about it's about changing and getting used to and trying and timekeeping and looking. It's not complicated. It's now obviously each flash has its own little idiosyncrasies, and you have to figure them out.

Now there is another piece of equipment, which I haven't put on this list. And that's battery packs. And battery packs will plug into the flash, and you put eight batteries in and then it will power for much, much longer. This is not the only solution out there on the market. There's lots of light solutions. I'm just showing you this one because it's cheap.

Now the other thing with this system is if you then go on to do any sort of corporate photography or on site photography, you're already equipped so this will get you going with studio but also allow you to go out and take event work on or corporate work. So it's a great little system. And you'll notice that I mentioned 10 loops. Why have I said no loops, while loops are really interesting batteries because they don't lose the charge. So you can charge them up, leave them in your bag, and they hardly lose any charge. Normal rechargeables he charged them up and then they drain off in the bag.

No loops don't so they're much more reliable, highly recommend those. Then we've got our lighting stands. Like I said, Go on Amazon and find some good reviews. When you use in flashes and umbrellas. You don't need heavy stamps. If you want to shoot outside with umbrella, you're going to need some heavier quality stance but to get going in the UK by these conic versions, about I think about 10 pounds each and they're gonna do the job.

You know, they're gonna do what you need them to do. And then we've got the ankle weights was talking about earlier. Now, this is a handy little trick. With these, you want to bind the five kilogram sets, that's so there's two ankle weights and each two and a half kilos each, you can wrap these around the bottom of your stand in the bit between the joint. So let me just flick back, see if we can flick back. So you would wrap this on that bottom section between the three legs and the knee brace at the bottom.

So you put them around here just wrap them as if they're anchor points and that will give you stability and extra weight and it's a great way of doing on a budget. Then we've got a shoot through umbrella. Now this one looks like a black one but he outside actually comes off which is actually very useful because this will give you a little bit of a reflection if you shoot into the umbrella. Now we're going to recommend free of those like we said, but also there's a silver umbrella which is slightly different. They look the same but he's Not white inside, these are silver and they bounce more light back. So we recommended you get one of these, because he's a great for filling a space if we want to get some wrap and some large like going on.

We've got umbrella mounts like these, you're going to need these because your stand and your umbrellas won't attach. So this goes on you stand, the umbrella goes for that little hole and then you flash is plugged in and screwed on to the top. And now you're set up with a lighting stand, flash and a bracket. Now 24 inch softbox. This again is one of the conic versions that you can find on Amazon. And these are what we're going to need for portraits for creating that nice soft light that goes around someone's face.

So we want at least one of these. Now, you don't wanna go any bigger than this because the flash, the speed light is not powerful enough to fill a big softbox so this is probably as big as you really want to go. But this will give you quite a nice little look if you get in close and we'll show Some usage of that later.
