Hello, it's Rob here from Rob coven.com. And here I'm going to talk about what I should write about in my blog. This is an incredibly important video. I've spoken to a lot of people who even don't blog, or have started a blog and have given up for some reason. A lot of people think that blogging is not for them or somehow beyond them, and I really disagree. I think most people should be putting out content into the world.
And if you want to make a dent in the universe, then this is your chance. But how how do you do it? First of all, I'm going to tell you how to write a blog post. So it's very easy. This is our WordPress site that we have renamed freelance graphic designer London. And in the dashboard, we go posts, add new and then we have The title and the content here.
So in the title, you write a keyword rich title. And I'll give you an example of that. Okay, so I've just typed in how to make PDFs by using InDesign as my title. So immediately you can see that is a keyword rich title. People might be searching for how to make PDFs, they might be searching for PDFs using Adobe InDesign. I could have just said InDesign, but I put Adobe in, because that's another key word.
I could have said how to export PDFs that might have been better as well. Of course, you can run these titles through the Google Keyword Planner. So once you've done that, of course, you can just enter in the content here. It should be at least 500 words and have images, maybe videos as well with short paragraphs and subheadings if you like you can save draft. And you can preview the post. So this isn't published yet.
But there it is, there's the post. And if we go back, you'll see that WordPress has created the URL for the page of the permalink, as they call it, and of course, it has the keywords in it separated by hyphens. What you can do is get rid of some words like and, and the, they won't be counted as keywords. So they're better to get rid of but any keyword like PDF, Adobe InDesign, you should definitely keep in there. And then you can okay that you can save the draft without publishing it. And then when you finished you just publish it.
And now that we've done that, we'll go back to our homepage and refresh. And there is our new post on our homepage. Remember, the homepage shows the most recent 10 blog posts and There's the new one we did, we'll click through and we can read the text on it. But this is what you should write about, you should write about what you know. And that's what I mean by Be yourself. You need to provide value to your audience.
And the only way to do that is to write about what you know. So when I started blogging, I wrote about creating PDFs. hardly an exciting subject, but it brought in traffic and more importantly, it bought in work for me, because people who were searching how to do this actually ended up giving me jobs, they phoned me up and said, Could you make PDFs for us, and we'll pay you. This could happen to you as long as you write about what you know about and be totally honest in your writing as well. If you write articles about how to make money online, and you're not making money online, then that really is a bad idea. But you can write about almost anything as long as you're honest, and it belongs to a definable niche.
It's very important for Google and other search engines to identify you as an expert within a certain subject area. And this subject area will be, of course, your line of business what you do for work. So don't even worry if you hate your job at the moment, I hated mine when I started blogging. And when I wrote about PDFs, of course, creating PDFs isn't the most exciting thing in the world. But then I started blogging about Photoshop and Illustrator tricks, which were a little bit more interesting. And then later, I could blog about running a design business, which was really interesting because it was a labor of love for me, and I could inspire other people.
So as long as you are yourself and honest, you will find your passion through blogging. So don't think that you have to be cleverer than you actually are. You can blog about what you know at the level that you know it because if you choose Try and fool people and make out that you know everything about a certain subject, then they will see through you. So that's what I mean about honesty. So be specific. So don't be too general.
Think back to the Google keyword research tool I was showing you, the keywords that are used, the least, will have the less competition. And this works for blog post titles, as well as site titles. Over half of Google queries are more than three words, there may be more competition for single word and two word phrases, but there's actually more volume in the descriptive phrases of three words or more. So have a look at this graph. The traffic coming from the one and two word phrases, of course has the greater numbers but the volume of searches for the more descriptive phrases they're actually More than the highly competitive single and double word phrases. Here's another statistic for you 15% of searches submitted have never been seen before by Google search engines.
That's 500 million searches a day that have never been seen before. What does all this mean? It means to get specific with your blog post titles, dive into the details of your niche and split the knowledge up into the smallest little pieces possible. So try and think really technically about creating PDFs. Is there some strange thing that happens to PDFs that you know about and nobody else knows about? I can't talk about your subject and your niche because only you will know about it.
That's the beauty of blogging. It's very, very individualistic. But if you do this, right specific headlines with lots of keywords Your audience will be searching for and interested in. You will get more traffic from Google and visitors will be more engaged with your writing and they'll be more likely to buy from you. Okay, I hope you enjoyed that. This has been Rob from Rob coven.com.
I'll see you in the next video.
