Hello, this is Rob here from Rob coven calm. So we've seen how to create lists and sign up sidebar forms in both AWeber and MailChimp. But now I'm going to show you how to do the same again in AWeber. But this time, we're going to offer an ebook, a free ebook, a lead magnet or incentive for people to sign up. So what basically is going to happen is the subscribers will be given the free ebook after they click the confirmation link in the confirmation email that AWeber sent. So I'm going to show you how to do that now.
The first thing you need before you go on to AWeber is a success page. So page where your prospects will come after having submitted their email address to you to download the actual ebook. So the first thing We need to do is create that page. So you go to pages Add New. And let's call it download mine promotion 2013. And I have an image of the ebook here.
Usual thing, let's get rid of the title and put the alt text in lincolnton non full size and that's habit centered. So there's our image and we'll pretend we've got a download link and we'll sort of say download here. And we'll have that as our success page for now. So let's go into AWeber. And remember, you can use any email service provider for this, MailChimp or icontact, but I'm using AWeber. So in a Weber we go create and manage lists.
And here we go create a new list. Let's give the list a name and we'll call it creative. This is just for you and the description as well. Here is the name and address. You can put your name in your email mail address. And this is the name and the address that the emails appear to come from.
You can decide to receive notifications every time somebody signs up, I won't be doing that the company name will say creative designs, a URL and email signature. And let's get a logo. And here you can decide to put your various emails out on social media like Twitter and Facebook, but I won't be doing that. And I won't be using the global text snippets. And here is the confirmation message. This is the message that people who first entered their email address in the form will receive and this is part of the double opt in.
And the double opt in is where somebody gives their email address first in order to download the PDF or the ebook or the incentive you're offering. And then they have to wait To get an email, in which they can click a confirmation link. So this is the first email and they have some default text here that you might like to change. They're very strict about the subjects. So you're better off using a pre approved subject, you can edit this intro in the email as you wish and make sure you mentioned the E book and the websites. So before we can send you the E book you requested, we want to make certain we have your permission, and we leave the opt in on and the success page.
And remember, that's this page where they can download the incentive. Save so the new list has been created. Now we need to create the form and put it on the website. So to do that, we go to web forms. Make sure we're on the right list and this is the list we're doing it for and create a new webform and in order to do this, there are many templates you can use. But what I like to do is use a simple as blancas template, basic load templates, and then take out as much as we can, in order that we can start it up in the way that we want.
So we take that out, take that out, take that out, we don't want to collect the names. And we've just got email and submit. So we save webform and go to step two, okay, give the webform the name. And we're going to call it sidebar because it's going in the sidebar. And you can also create your own thank you page, that's the page they first go to once they've given their email address, and they're waiting for the email activation that we get just going to use the AWeber version, and an already subscribed page. That's for people who've given their email address twice.
And they're already subscribed to the content again, and you can create a page for them. But again, we're just going to use the AWeber version. So let's save web form and go set Free. And now this is about publishing the form on the website. And we'll go with installer form. And we want the raw HTML version.
So we'll just copy this. And now I'm going to put that into a new file in Dreamweaver and just take out all the style that AWeber has put in there that we don't want. And just leave us with the basic HTML of the form. And all we've got to do is put this in a text widget in the sidebar. So I'll copy that. And let's go appearance widgets, and put a text widget in the primary sidebar, and the headline is free ebook.
So we save that and let's go to the About Us page and refresh. And there is our form so we can enter our email and see if the form works. And there is the AWeber thanks Key page saying that they've sent us an email and we've got to click the Confirm link. And there is the logo that we uploaded at AWeber as well. So let's wait for that email to come. And here is the email.
Remember, we could only choose a few subject lines, but we can personalize this text here and the subscriber needs to click on this link in order to download the ebook incentive. So they are taken to our thank you page and we have that subscriber on our email list. So we can now send them through a series of autoresponders with great information and a few sales and marketing emails. So I hope you enjoyed that. That's how to collect email addresses from a website using an AWeber list, sidebar signup form, and the all important lead magnet, the free ebook, which means you will collect more email addresses faster than you would otherwise Okay, this is Rob from rogue coven calm.
