Hello, it's Rob here from real carbon.com. So this represents a paradigm shift in your online thinking, you've stopped thinking about traffic and started to think about conversions. online business is all about conversions. And what I mean by conversions is collecting an email address converting a visitor from add subscriber. For example, you might find that a headline change above your email capture form results in more signups. You might want to put an email capture form below every blog post as well to get more addresses.
But by far the most effective way to increase conversions is to offer some freebie or incentive to join the list. Now this is sometimes called a lead magnet, or a bribe or an offer. It can be a free ebook, a free mp3, or a free report, as you can see here. In fact, this is from my website. So show you my website to see what I mean about forms. Well actually, I haven't got any forms visible on my home page.
But if you click this button, click that online free resources books, or click that button, you get a form where you can add your email and sign up. And if you go on to any of my individual articles, you also have the signup forms available in the sidebar Of course, but if you scroll down, and you've finished reading the article, you'll see another lead magnet incentive to join the list. If you scroll down still further, towards the end of the comments, I've got a pop up box that comes in if you got to the bottom 10% of the page. even further, and there's another signup form there. So you could even just compile a resources list and say, subscribe to find out my top 10 tools for running an online business. So the lead magnet can be quite a small offer.
Because people have got no time these days, they don't want to spend ages reading huge, long ebooks. The important thing is to put a lead magnet on there, make sure you offer something of value to your customers in order to get them to sign up to your list have some sort of lead magnet. So on one hand, it's about collecting emails and improving conversions. But on the other hand, it's about emailing the list. Remember, it's very easy to neglect this at the beginning when you don't have many subscribers. However, it's essential that you start the email routine just as much as the blogging habit.
And it's soon as you've collected the very first email addresses, you need to start emailing them. once every two weeks, at the very least, don't stop, otherwise, the list will get cold, and people will forget who you are. Stop opening your emails, or even worse, flag your emails as spam. So all that time and money you've spent collecting their email addresses will be for nothing. Don't do that. Send out the emails as soon as you start collecting the email addresses.
And another good technique you can employ is with a squeeze page. Here is an example of a squeeze page. This is my squeeze page. a squeeze page has a short offer of the lead magnet and a form to put in your email address and nothing else. There's no link out of here. There's no logo.
There's no homepage link. There's no blog link. You could have a video here. Instead of an image of your offer, but this is an example of a squeeze page, and it's very important because it's a good way of collecting email addresses, the best thing to do is to create a redirect for the squeeze page. I'll show you how to do this in a minute. But the point of this is to create a easily memorable URL so people can get there easily.
So mine is at Rob carbon comm forward slash free, so people can remember that if they hear it in a podcast, or if they see it in a video, or even if they read it in a paperback book. These are all ways where you can increase your brand for Udemy videos, YouTube videos, Kindle books, paperback books through Amazon, and you need to drive people back to your squeeze page or your site where you can collect their email addresses. And the easy way of doing this is to provide an easy to type URL to your squeeze page. So if people remember my name, Rob Covent, calm and then remembered for slash free. And of course free is a nice word because it means they're getting something for free there and hit return, you'll see that it redirects to the actual page where the squeeze page is. So the squeeze page, isn't that forward slash free.
Nothing is it's just a redirect. Here's how you do the redirects, plugins, and new and search plugins for redirect. And again, choose a plug in that has been updated recently has a lot of downloads and good reviews. So let's install that one. Activate Plugin. And under Tools now you have redirection.
And hidden here, you put your source URL, which is the short, easy to remember URL, and the target URL is where the actual webpage you want to redirect to is and I'll show you this on my site. Okay, show you an example of one of the redirects. Here is a Kindle resources page I've got it's got a very long URL there. But as it was in the Kindle, I made it at Rob cabin comm forward slash Kindle five. So if you put that in, you'll go to that resources page for the Kindle. And it's a good example because you will always do a resources page for Kindles.
And the people who read the Kindles, they might not click a link, they might be reading on a Kindle Fire or a Kindle that doesn't have a browser, so they just need to see the link and type it into a browser. They might be reading in a paperback and of course, you can't click a link in a paperback book. So very important that you set up. pretty short, easy to remember URLs for the very important pages in your site. And the most important page in your site for these purposes is your squeeze page. Okay, so I hope you understand now the value of creating redirects to the squeeze page.
And there's another idea for you. If you really wanted to do something special for your squeeze page, you could buy a whole new URL for the purpose. Here's one I've bought free from rob.com. That goes directly to my squeeze page. Okay, I hope you've enjoyed that little bit more about conversions. It's a really important subject.
You'll never stop perfecting your conversions and you'll never stop wanting more email addresses. Because it's the first step. It's the first part of your funnel. To turn a visitor or anyone into a customer to buy your products. It's the first step to get their email address. Okay, my name is Rob from Rob coven calm.
I'll see you in another video.
