In the anterior maxilla, esthetics is the primary concern. The goal is to create implant restorations that blend with adjacent natural teeth and restorations. Missing anterior teeth can result in space disparities such as excessive or inadequate space that impact implant restoration resulting in restorations that are excessively large or too narrow, angulation problems with restoration, occlusal and phonation problems, as well as esthetics and functional problems in the anterior maxilla.

Lateral incisors are one of the most common congenitally missing teeth in the mouth. Often their absence or their loss affects other anterior teeth resulting in a reduction in dimensions in the anterior maxillary ridge limiting space available for dental implant placement. The goal of this Course is to look at ways of addressing spatial discrepancies to create esthetic maxillary implant restorations. The first part of this course deals with the use of Orthodontics in space creation for maxillary lateral incisors.
