Hello and welcome to the first video. So the first tense we're going to see today in this course is the present simple, okay, so how to form the tense? We take the verb in the infinitive and we say, like for example, I like you like, then the third person, we have he or she likes, okay? And then we have we like, on day like, this is also true for names like john likes, or pizza likes. Okay, so some examples, and I like chocolate. Okay, I dance tango.

This example then the third person Peter likes, john. Okay, that would be the same for example, if Peter Peter dances need to be asked for the third person Tango Okay, these are chances Tango Okay, and another example I am Irish okay and we also have the negative here and in most cases we use don't for the negative so if I want to do I like chocolate and wants to make that negative then I say I don't like chocolate the same with and dance tango. Okay Peter dances Tango then you say, Peter, let's put this example down here, Peter okay. So as you see here in the first and second person we have dumped, I don't have to tangle but in the third person A pizza doesn't dance tango, and john doesn't like pizza. Peter likes john. But john doesn't like pizza.

Okay? And this works for all verbs except for the verb to be. And, and the verb to be we have I am Irish, okay? But in the negative we say I am not Irish, okay? We don't use don't hear in this example with the verb to be and so give you one more example of this you and I know the negative but that you are not French. Okay, excellent.

And the next part is the question. Okay. So here we use do Okay, so we have like, I like, then we say do Do you like chocolates? Do I like chocolates? And okay, do you dance tango? And if you want to ask a question for this, what could it be?

Peter likes? So it's a it's not do because it's third person. It's does does pizza like okay and and it's the same thing and it's every verb except for the verb to be. So if I say I am Irish, I am not Irish in the negative and the question I Irish so what can what question can we ask for this you are French say Are you? Okay? Sounds good?

Because it's the verb to be. Okay, very good. And then we'll look at when we use the tense okay? So we use the present simple for things in general. Okay? He's in general.

I mean, I am happy. Yes, I'm happy that's in general. Okay, I'm not talking about now I'm talking about generally in my life. I like my life. I am happy. Okay.

And we also use it for facts like Ireland is a small country, okay? And that's a fact it doesn't change. Okay? Russia is a is a big country. Okay, that doesn't change. That's a fact.

Okay, we also use the present simple for habits and routines like for Example. I wake up at 9am every day and I drink coffee in the morning. Okay? Perfect. Okay, so and in the next video we'll look at the present continuous so see you there.
