Hello, this is Rob Coburn, I'm about to create a new campaign for one of my books at Amazon marketing services. And if you haven't got account yet, I suggest you go to am s for Amazon marketing services.amazon.com sign in with the same Amazon sign in, that you use for your Kindle books. It's a great opportunity. You can buy clicks for 10 cents, 12 cents, something like that. And of course, you'll get two to three to $4 profit, depending on what the customer may buy. There's a lot more to it than that, of course, let's get going.
The way you start a new campaign is by clicking here on new campaign, obviously. And here you're confronted with a choice between sponsored products and product display ads. It's sponsored products you want all the time. I've had a lot of feedback from other people as well as myself, who's done a lot Have testing and the product display ads are just not working. It seems they're so bad, I assume that Amazon will do something with them and make them better somehow. But for the time being, we're going for sponsored products.
And the book I'm going to advertise is this one, build a brand, create products and earn passive income. And we're going to give it a name, I usually give it the same name as the book, or shorten name. average daily budget doesn't matter at all, unless you're getting huge amounts of clicks, which I never have, but I'll put something ridiculous like $25 a day I'm not going to pay anything like that. So don't worry. And we're going to run campaign continuously starting today. We're going to do manual targeting.
Now. First of all, Amazon will give you a suggestion for keywords. This will be very basic based on the title of the book and the words in the product description. And the back end keywords, etc, I would add all these, although I can see some of them won't be appropriate. And you'll see them down here where the added keywords are, I'm going to remove a few that aren't relevant. And then I'm going to copy all of those and put them in my Excel spreadsheet that I'm using to store all the keywords that I use for this particular book.
So there they are, these are all the Amazon suggested ones, and then we'll just remove all of these unnecessary words. Now I'll tell you what I've done already in this Excel spreadsheet. First of all, I've got author keywords. Now, these are a list of authors that I think my customers will also be interested in. So I've got people like Tim Ferriss, Steve Scott, Pat Flynn, people who are very popular, but write in a very similar area to the subject Have my books. And I'm just doing these manually at the moment.
That doesn't seem to be anyway, of finding these keywords, particularly online. So that's the first load of keywords that I'm going to put in. And here are some that I've got from merchant words. And I'll show you merchant words in just a moment. But these were the very popular ones with the seed keyword online business. So there they are.
The other thing I do in this workbook is to find duplicates. So we go data, remove duplicates, and already there's 15 duplicates found. So we'll remove duplicate. Now why do I do that? And that's simply because if we go back here and add our own keywords, and we add loads of them, remember, we're allowed thousand keywords. We're trying to get 1000 keywords here, so it's a lot have words.
And if you enter 100 keywords, and one of them is a duplicate, Amazon won't let you add them. So it's very difficult. You have to then go through and find the duplicate, and then enter the words. So that's the reason why we're collecting them all in the Excel spreadsheet first, and the Excel spreadsheet can remove the duplicates. And then we don't have that issue with Amazon. So where do we find the keywords?
Here's our first port of call merchant words.com. This is the paid version, unfortunately, but you can find this for $9 a month. So you could potentially do all your work in one month and only have to pay $9 but I do find the keyword suggestions very helpful here and you get an estimated monthly search volume. I'm not sure how accurate that is. It's saying that passive income is 130,000 times on the Kindle store in amazon.com. How they know that I'm not sure whether that's true or not, or it's a little bit less than that, I really don't know.
But it's, it's great to have some sort of idea. So we'll select those and you can download a CSV here, but I'm gonna actually do it manually. Put them in the spreadsheet, get rid of the stuff, we don't need a nose to columns back to merchant words. Here are 99 results with the seed keywords sell products. Remember, I've searched in Amazon, us and all categories. I haven't searched in books because that really cuts it down.
Sometimes with merchant words you want to copy the just the the most popular ones here. If you scroll down, you'll see best selling skincare products. Well, that's not relevant to this book, but most of them are so I'm just gonna bang them all in there. Don't worry if you put some irrelevant keywords, okay, we're not selling an anti aging product, but it's very very unlikely you'll get a click with one of those irrelevant keywords. So also very unlikely that Amazon will display your ads under irrelevant keywords. So that's done them in there.
I have seen another problem I wasn't doesn't let you use key words with Kindle in the title. So we'll go command find Kindle. And I'm afraid we have to do this quite manually and delete all the references to kindle. You're allowed to use the word books but not the word Kindle. Okay, they've all gone. And remember how important it is to use the keyword best books.
So I've already put keywords in like best passive income books, or passive income best books, or create products, best books. It's very common that people go to Amazon and look for the best books on a certain subjects that They literally type in best books on passive income. And remember when we're adding all these keywords, they are broad match, this is not exact match. So for example, if I do best books passive income, then that book might be returned if somebody keys in best books on passive income or best books, passive income prophets, something like that. So it's a broad match to the keywords you're adding not an exact or a phrase match back to our keyword search. The other great tool that I use is keyword.io.
And this is a free tool. And in keyword.io, you can search Google YouTube, Amazon, everywhere to see keywords that people are using. And these will be gained by looking at the autocompletes in Google and Amazon and other places. Now I've done a search for Passive income on Google, I've come up with 550. There, it's a little bit too many. So I did a search for passive income on Amazon.
So that was maybe a bit more relevant. So we're going to add all of those, because there's 60 keywords here and export those. Let's open the keyword.io file, Copy that, paste them all in. Okay, so here's the other one sell products. I just got two keywords in Amazon. Let's try so products and see what keywords we come up from Google 602, maybe a little bit too many there.
Let's try some more from merchant words. It's also about brand building. So we'll go brand. Okay, we got a lot of irrelevant stuff with brand. So let's search In the book category, there are some here, for example, personal branding, brand management. But most of them again a relevant thing, I'm just gonna have to put some in manually here.
Brown building is in the title, best brand books. It's more of a personal brand personal brand, a personal business brand. Best books on brand doing best books on personal brands, Brandon's best books on business brands, business branding, business brand, so they're all of our key words. I don't think we've got very many possibly only 200 300 something like that. And usually I like to fill it up with as many as possible. thousand, that sometimes it's just not possible you run out of ideas, but we will put them all here and add your own keywords, the cost per click 25 cents again, doesn't matter at all, Amazon isn't going to rip you off and charge you 25 cents a click, that's just the bid.
As long as you're bidding above the average cost per click, then you'll be okay. And the average cost per click is around about 12 cents a click as far as I can see. So I always leave it there at 25 cents, although I will show you in another video, how I also increase that if I can see a keyword is doing particularly well. So I'm going to paste all those in and add ah and you can see that we have some issues there. One of them's too long. We've got two Kindle ones in there.
And we've also got an illegal character, which is a hyphen there. So I need to go in and get rid of those. So there were two Kindles we'll get rid of, that's got rid of them. So look for that hyphen. Let's just get rid of that. Stop working, stop living.
I can't believe that's going to work. Let's get rid of the passive income, no duplicates, select them all. Delete what you've put in there and paste in those ones. And then hopefully, these will all go Yes. If you look there, there's all our keywords all in alphabetical order. And there's many more than we got as a suggestion from Amazon.
So now the last thing we got to do is put some custom text and let's show you the book on Amazon. Here is the book, get something that will push the Amazon visitor over the edge to buy your products or Click on it, but I wouldn't sweat this too much. If you scroll down here, you'll see the sponsored items. This is what we're talking about here. This is italicized bit of text that will just sell the book. I don't think anyone reads this.
Another thing to note here, I found that it didn't work if you put a testimonial in, one of my ads didn't get approved because it had a quote from a review, which I thought would be useful. But that's not allowed. Now I've seen that other people managed to get away with it. So I just want to let you know about that. So we'll put in our custom text. So I've pasted in a bit of text here.
This is a blueprint for online success. This is not a get rich quick book. However, if you do what it says you will make money online. Now I'm not hundred percent sure if Amazon is gonna go along with that make money online, but if not, they don't prove it. I can just start With another bit of custom text, but that is it, we have done it. Now I'm going to submit the campaign for review.
And now I've got to wait to see if it's been approved. Here we see we've got nearly 350 keywords. Remember, you've got 1000. So if I come up with any more, I can always add them to the campaign. If I see keywords doing well in other campaigns, I can add them to this campaign as well. But for now, I'm going to leave it at that and we'll see if this campaign makes me money or not.
My name is Rob Coburn. I'll see you in another video.
