Hello, it's Rob here from Rob cabin calm. Now it's not all about Amazon Kindle. As you'll find out when it comes to writing long textual media or books. There are other platforms, and there's your own platform. Now as I mentioned, Amazon Kindle has KDP Select which includes fantastic marketing tools like free day, promotions, count and countdown deals. However, if you want to enroll on KDP, select your ebook, your digital ebook needs to be exclusive to the Amazon platform.
It's up to you whether you want to make the most of this or not. I would advise you to do that, at least at first, and in my niche, make money online and running a web design business and selling Passive income, selling video courses etc. These niches I have found to be better off on the Amazon platform, the Amazon platform does boast 80% of the market share worldwide. However, in other niches, it will be worth your while to try out some of the other platforms. Now, there are lots of others. Of course, Apple iBooks is a big one, Barnes and Noble BNN.
And, of course, Google Books through the Play Store. You can't ignore Google. So if you're interested in experimenting in some of these other platforms, you can just go to them and upload epubs or PDFs one by one if you wish. There are also other distributors for example, Lulu here. They are free and distributes to Apple Barnes and Noble, Kobo and Amazon but of course You'd have gone via the Amazon website to do that anyway. I say Lulu are free.
They of course they charge a commission on the sale you get, but you don't have to pay any money up front, especially words aren't free, you do have to pay money up front, and they distribute to more platforms. And to go through Google Books you need to upload for Google Books themselves and your book will be on the Play Store. But as I say, whether this is good for you or not depends very much on your niche. However, what doesn't depend on your niche is selling the book through your own website. This is always a good idea. And you will make varying amounts of money depending on the traffic to your website, and the numbers on your email list.
You should always be working towards increasing the traffic on your website and increasing the number of subscribers on your email list. Anyway You do this, of course with blogging, online relationships, guest blogging, and just improving your site day in day out by writing extremely good, free valuable content and having a good offer to join your email list and trying to increase conversions as you go along. So if you decide to do this, of course creates a PDF of a book and I'll show you mine in a while. And then you can sell it on your own platform on your own website using a number of these different merchants. Here we have Clickbank in junkie gumroad and send out they all have their pros and cons. If I was starting today, I'd probably choose gumroad.
I've used Clickbank and the junkie before but I've never used send out but I wouldn't discount any of them. It's up to you what you'd like to try gumroad I've been hearing some really good things about gumroad recently, apparently you can set it up within seconds. None of these merchants will charge you any money upfront course they'll take a commission of the sale. But the benefit of selling your own ebook on your site is he can charge so much more than you can on Amazon. So here's my website. And if you go books, I've got my two PDFs that I sell from this site First of all, and followed that by the Amazon ebooks.
This is my most popular PDF, running a web design business. And remember, this is exclusive to my site. This book doesn't exist on Amazon. If it did, I couldn't enroll it in KDP Select so I've got a long sales page including a video here. I give social proof as in I put in a couple of reviews. couple of nice things that some of my customers have said about the book.
I took A lot about the benefits to the customer of buying the book. I give a few quotes from other high reputation people within the niche, give more benefits to the customer, and more social proof money back guarantee. And finally, a download button where if you click, you'll get an order form. It's in Thai baht because I'm in Thailand at the moment, an order form for $24 and you can check out using a credit card or PayPal. So very easy to set up. You will make money from it if you've got a decent amount of traffic and a decent amount of subscribers maybe up to 1000 on your list.
However, it's not going to get you extra audience in the disadvantage of setting up a PDF ebook on your site. Is that It's only for your current visitors. The advantage of selling on Amazon and other platforms is you increase your audience because there are people on these platforms who've never heard of you. And they'll read your book, and subscribe to your list and become a customer. So it's profitable, but it doesn't increase your audience and readership. I'll just quickly show you the product.
If I was you, I would create an E book in a Word document and save it out as a PDF. But I spent some time on it. It has a contents page where you can click on the chapter titles, and it goes through to the relevant chapter. You can click on a contents page button here, it puts you back to the contents page. And you can scroll through that way. So as you can see, I've spent a bit of time creating the PDF.
You could outsource this or you could just Make an effort to make a very nice looking Word document with images and links. Of course, it's all about the quality of the text in the book. That's the most important thing, always with ebooks. But I would spend a bit of time on design and always offer a 30 day or a 60 day money back guarantee you'll only ever get less than 1% of people asking for refunds. So, couple more things for you to think about selling PDFs on your own site and branching out to other platforms apart from the Amazon platform. However, I personally am concentrating on Amazon at the moment because I do think it's a fantastic way not only to make money, but also to build your brand and increase your audience and readership going forward, which means more sales in the future.
Okay, I hope you enjoyed that. This has been Rob from Rob coven.com. I'll see you in the next video.
