Hi, this is Rob coven. Here, I'm going to show you how to upload a book to create space. So that book will be available in paperback form through the Amazon website. Now you've already created an ID at create space.com. And you've connected this to your ID amazon.com. So, I've logged in to create space and I'm going to click add new title there.
And I'm going to paste in the name of the book. And it goes without saying, of course, that that title of the book is exactly the same as the title of the Kindle at the Amazon store. So number two, choose which type of product you want to start, always paperback for CreateSpace. This is all that we do here. And we're going to go through the guided setup process. Okay or flow first.
Name, Last Name. And we're having no other contributors. There's no series title, there's no addition title. And we're going to leave the publication date blank because they will just choose today's date for us. Save and Continue. We're going to get CreateSpace to assign an ESPN for us, and we're going to assign free ESPN.
And there it is. So we'll copy that. And I always put this in the book itself. I don't think this is important, but I'm going to do it anyway. So put on the inside front page of the inside interior section. We're just gonna put those two ISP ends in there.
Okay, and continue. So interior type, we're going to go for black and white and the paper color is going to be white. The size is six inches by nine inch is the usual size for nonfiction paperback. And I'm going to upload the book file. This is the interior file. And I'm just going to show you it now create this file easily by downloading a Word template, the correct word templates at create space.
So all of this is the interior pages. I actually had them created in InDesign. But it's probably better if you do this in Word, or you give it to a freelancer to do on Fiverr or Upwork. But here it is. Here's the first page. This isn't the cover.
It's just the first page of the interior and the inside first page, and then the contents page. Now important to remember, we're starting on the right hand page. So that's page one, and that's page two, blah, blah, blah. And you keep on going, you'll see that it's not in spreads. But you'll see that's the left hand page because it's got the page number 14 on the left hand and that's the right hand page. And then you just go off So it's six, nine all the way single pages.
And this is how CreateSpace wants it. It's a high res PDF in black and white. So I'm going to upload that. And I'm going to choose the second selection there, because it's got no bleed on it. It's the same trim size as the book six, nine, so therefore, there's no bleed. bleed is something that you get when you have a color or a photograph running over the edge of a page.
So you add three millimeters or some extra bleed to the page to make sure that the color goes right over the edge of the page. But as this is the black and white interior, there's no bleed. We're not going to bother with that. So we choose this option and save. This takes some time. Okay, so that's finally finished uploading and now there's an automated print check that creates space.
Is performing. And actually there's a link here to say start working on your book cover while you wait. I'm going to click that so we can carry on. However, you always have to check to see if the interior looks okay. And I'll show you that later on. But let's do the book cover now.
Okay, so we're on to the cover section, you'll notice we've done the title information, we've done the ESPN, the interior isn't done yet because we haven't checked it and passed it yet. Now we're onto the cover. And I'm going to go for glossy and I'm gonna upload a print ready PDF cover and I'm gonna show you that now, I showed you how I made this in another video, but this is exactly the correct size. It's got a little bit of bleed on it, and it's got a bit in the middle for the spine, and it's a high rez CMK PDF. So that's what I'm going to upload now. The cover pinup and save.
Okay, so the upload is complete now for the cover, and I'm going to click Continue. So we are completing the setup now. But I still haven't completed the check on the interior file. As I said earlier, we can do that later. So all remains to do is to return to project home. And you'll see it's still not done.
What we can do is try and go back to the interior and see if we can make that check now. And I think we can because we can launch interior reviewer. Okay, so the interior reviewer has finally loaded and we can get started. And now all this shows you is the file that you uploaded. You got to make sure everything looks right. It's in the right order.
So here's the first page. Here's the next spread. There's the contents page and the book itself starts on the right hand page. So this is correct, it's all looking good. We got page numbers here on the left hand side and on here on the right hand side, and everything is appearing within the dotted line, which means that everything is visible, it's not too near the edge. There's the one of the images, all the images of black and whites, and they're looking good.
So no need to go through the whole of this. You don't have to look at every page. You can jump to pages here, if there's a particular page you're worried about, but I'm pretty happy at this point, said everything looks the same. It's fitting into the design. So I'm happy about that. I'm going to save and continue.
And there our interior has the green tick next to it. So we're okay we can go to complete setup and submit files for review. Okay, so basically We want this on amazon.com. We want to honor all the Amazon sites, I sometimes select these two as well, to be honest with you, I don't think it makes much difference, but we've got it on Amazon and people can buy it through, create space calm as well if they really want to. But basically, it's all about getting it on Amazon. So we'll save and continue.
So now it's the pricing, and you'll see the minimum price in the US is $7 40 for this book, so for the size of this book, you can't sell it cheaper than 740. Now I usually go up a bit from that price, I usually ask a little bit more. I'll put this on at 899. Now, I might put that up a bit and what you can do is then calculates and it will calculate all the royalties for you and the price equivalence in other currencies. So you'll see that if the book is sold on amazon.com, you get $2. Every time it gets sold, it won't get sold on CreateSpace store so much, I'm afraid.
And this is what you'd get if the book is sold in the UK and various countries in the European Union be quite interesting. See what you'd get if it was 999. It's not another dollar on the royalty, which is interesting. But let's keep it at 899. Anyway, okay, so we'll save and continue. It's asking again about the cover, which we already decided was going to be glossy, and description here.
Don't worry about this so much because most people see the description on the Kindle version. The Kindle version is usually the version people come to when they first look at the listing for the book. So I'm just going to paste one in here and I'm not going to bother with HTML There it is. And for a similar reason, I don't bother so much about the category because I think the categories you choose when you're doing the Kindle are so much more important. So I'm going for Business Economics, entrepreneurship, author biography. we'll paste one in here.
Okay, so I've pasted in an author biography, book language, English country of publication. Well, I was in Thailand when I did it, but I usually put United Kingdom in their search keywords. I'm gonna paste in the ones that I decided on for Kindle. And I'm going to leave contains adult content unchecked and large print unchecked and save and continue. And it's five keywords in create space, seven in Kindle, okay, so the cover is still not ready. I think if I come back in a few minutes, then that will be ready.
The other thing you have to is it's asked if you want to publish on Kindle. I never do that because I've done that already separately through kdp.amazon.com. But this is all you need to do on CreateSpace, you will be given an email confirming that everything's ready and you just have to press another button. But that is basically it. That means within a few days, you will be selling a physical book on the Amazon store at a price of your choosing. You can buy the book, you can put the price down to $6 and maybe it will cost you $4.
And then you'll have your book in your own hands and other people can buy it as well. My name is Rob cabin. I'll see you in the next video.
