About the Class

What will you learn in this live class?

  • In this class - Drawing as a Sacred Activity - you will expand your visual thinking and develop greater hand-eye coordination.
  • You will experience seeing old things in new ways - and you will connect your inner and outer world in a meaningful way.
  • You will learn the skill of observing the world without naming, labeling, or judging what you see.
  • You will also learn to use your "other" hand to draw out your imagination.

Drawing is an ancient activity that can help us to take charge of our attention. (Our attention is our most valuable asset.) Today our attention is constantly blasted by advertisements, social media, texts, emails, and breaking news. We live in a blizzard of information. Drawing is a safe, effective, inexpensive way for us to relax and draw out the unique, creative seed that lives deep within our hearts and Soul. Think about this: Holding a pencil and drawing what you see connects your two valuable senses: touching and seeing. Our outer world is, in truth, an expression of our Inner world. Drawing is a safe, effective, and very ancient way to consciously connect “outer and inner.”

Every class begins with a brief meditation - offering insights about perception. Class #1 is Introductions. I will share my background, my teachers, and my stories. You will share your story of what you hope to gain in this class. In classes #2-9 we will focus on the world around us by learning the 5 KEYS to observational drawing. In classes #10-12 we will focus on the world within us and we will draw out a bodily sensation or a memory or a bit of wisdom from our Innate, Intuitive, Essential Self.

Many people say "I cannot draw". But there seems to be some kind of idea that drawings must be perfect to be acceptable. The truth is that there is no person on earth that is perfect. There is no artwork that is perfect. Perfection is not the goal of life and perfection is not the goal of Drawing as a Sacred Activity. So I guess when you take this class you will find yourself letting go of the idea of perfection.
