1. Ice breaker introductions: Students will tell their names and answer the questions:
Have you ever forgotten to turn a homework assignment in on time?
What were the consequences?
Do you write down homework assignments each day?
2. The instructor will guide the students in completing an inventory of their time management skills.
3. Next, the instructor guides the students in identifying their daily activities performed on a regular basis like attending classes, meal times, etc. After the students have identified their daily activities, they will create a color-coded key for these activities. Once they have completed their color-coded key, they will complete a 24-hour bar graph activity. The activity involves shading in one-hour bars that align with the amount of time spent in each activity on a daily basis.
4. After the bar graph has been completed, students will write an evaluation of their time managing inventory and their bar graphs.
5. Students share their evaluations of their time management skills by sharing what their day looked like, how they spent their time, their time management strengths, time management areas in need of improvement, and future action plans.
6. After sharing individual time management plans, the instructor will guide the students in creating a one-week implementation plan. The implementation plans will be developed by first ranking or prioritizing activities before adding them to the weekly plan.
7. Closing: Each student will respond to the following question.
How will you use this information to improve your ability to manage time more efficiently?
