Aloha from the Hawaiian Islands! 17 years ago I was drawn to study the martial arts due to a difficult circumstance. I had a stalker. It was a scary experience & I knew it was important for me to gain skills which would keep me safe and prevent me from being in compromising situations. For seven years, I studied seven styles of Japanese Martial Arts at the Martial Arts Alumni Association in Washington State. Three years into teaching, I was walking home from an evening of salsa dancing and had the epiphony that if I were attacked, over half the moves I was taught at the dojo would be ineffective wearing 3 inch heels and a dress! So, I created a curriculum designed to deliver practical self-defense moves for everyday living. Before moving to Hawaii, I co-founded an empowerment business which taught self-defense to middle school and high school girls touching on self-esteem, body image, and self-defense training. I currently work with individuals, groups, businesses, resorts, and other corporations, teaching leadership trainings, along with self-defense and safety trainings. In these sessions we creating emergency plans and assessing the client's environments. It is my life's work and I enjoy what I do! I hope you enjoy too!
