I believed then, and do to this day, that even the best lawyers are often their own worst enemies because they are not sufficiently aware of some basic realities about: how to sensibly attract the right types of clients... how to charge them at a level that is fair to both lawyer and client, and generate genuinely good profits... how to get really good productivity from employed team members. I know that this lack of basic professional business awareness consigns many lawyers to careers in which they do not get proper financial rewards to go along with the satisfaction they get from helping so many people in their lives and businesses. I will not argue with lawyers who believe there is no place for business common sense in a private legal practice. Life is far too short for that. On the other hand if a lawyer is keen to learn ways they can seriously consider to do things a lot smarter, they have come to the right teacher! What I've done is challenged many common beliefs and perceptions of the legal profession for over 35 years, proving them wrong, and thereby opening up the demonstrable benefits of doing things a bit differently to many hundreds of lawyers in small firms just like yours.
