I am a National Board Certified Health and Wellness coach and Middle School Teacher/Counselor. Through my years of experience working in schools, I have discovered that the system of education and the subsequent demands placed on educators results in burnout and turnover, where many brilliant, talented and committed professionals leave the profession each year. This problem has only gotten worse this year as we navigate COVID-19. I want to change the narrative that teachers must sacrifice their own lives in order to stay in the profession. I believe that we can make a difference by guiding teachers, administrators and others who support then to learn some basics of what it takes to live a flourishing life. I also believe that the SYSTEM needs to change: teachers can't just add yoga or mindfulness and make up for the demands of a dysfunctional system. With committed adminstrators ready to bravely advocate and make their own site changes, we can address teacher and administrator well-being, which, inevitably will also correlate to healthier, happier studetns. Through positive psychology research, strengths and habit change work, we can set individuals on a path to a more healthy, balanced, thrivinig life. It takes a shift of perspective and a strengths based framework, which my classes here offer! In addition to working with those in the field of education, I am also passionate about helping women in their middle of life claim a thriving second half of life where they learn to priroitze their own health and happiness. I work with individuals and groups and together we design an approach that meets their needs.
