Shawn, originally from Los Angeles, CA., has worked for various offset printing presses in the LA area and with multiple magazine publishers. His more than 15 years experience in the magazine industry has given him a rather unique perspective on magazine publishing; he is equally adept and knowledgeable about the production side of magazine publishing as well as logistics and advertisement procurement. He started the website: www.magshoestring.com to specifically assist would be magazine publishers who have very little experience with magazine publishing, and even less money, to get their concept off the ground. Even more than a decade later, there is still relatively little information on magazine publishing, despite the fact that there has been a steady increase in the number of new magazine launches in the US each year. Shawn's goal in life is to assist as many aspiring magazine publishers as possible to start their own magazine without having to spend thousands of dollars to do so!

With over 20 years teaching experience, 20 years specifically in the area of English as a Second Language, Shawn, born and raised in Los Angeles, California, decided to start AfroEnglish www.afroenglish.com based upon his past teaching experiences working with black and Hispanic adolescents and adults in Los Angeles Unified School District. He has taught English as a Second Language and English as a Foreign Language in Los Angeles, Miami, Washington, DC, Tysons Corner, Virginia and overseas at King Abdulaziz University in Jedah, Saudi Arabia, King Abdulaziz Air Force Base in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, JCC Maharat College of Technology in Jazan, Saudi Arabia and Al Qassim University in Al Buraidah, Saudi Arabia. Shawn specializes in Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and has created his own E-Learning English language acquisition software for TOEFL iBT preparation and general English as a Second Language learning.
