In this section, we would dive into the music staff and talk about the Treble (G) and Bass (F) clef.

We would learn the lines and spaces in each of these clefs and also talk about the musical notes on them.

Just A Brief Run-Through

The music staff, or stave (for plural), is made up of 5 horizontal lines as shown in the figure below:

On the music staff, notes are placed on the lines:

Notes can have black or whiteheads.

Notice that stems of notes go up in some cases, and goes down in other cases. The third line of the staff is used as a boundary. As shown below, the stem of a note goes down if the note is above the third line of the staff. Similarly, the stem goes up if the notes are below the third line of the staff.

Any note on the third line can either go up or down. This is left for the writer to judge (considering the overall shape of the music).
