Hello, and welcome back. I really hope that you enjoyed this drawing tutorial as much as I did. I really had a great time, john, this egg. Actually, I really enjoy drawing everything that I draw. And I hope that you do too. And I hope you got a lot of value from this.
And what I would like to do right now is I would like to just talk about some of the important things that we've learned in this video. First of all, it's very important when you're drawn a subject is you need the proportions correct. So I use the graph, the grid method that helps me to make sure that the proportions are correct with everything I'm drawing. It just makes it easy for me. I've been doing it for years. And there's a lot of different techniques that you can use.
You could trace it, you could use a projector, it doesn't matter how you get the subject on the paper. But what is important is that you have the proportions correct. And also, while you're drawing it doesn't matter what you use. You're going to still need to adjust the proportions as you draw along. Because you're never going to get 100% perfect every time that you put it on the surface the first time. The next thing that I would like to talk about is understanding the light value.
So we learned how to see what direction that the light is coming from, we learned to see where the reflection light is, we talked about how light acts different to every surface that it's actually hidden. So it's gonna react differently, if it's shining on metal, versus if it shining on this egg versus if it's shining on for or person, it doesn't matter. Every single subject that you draw light is going to react different to it. We also talked about the importance of subtle value changes and to be able to create that curve. So right now This egg looks like it's actually standing off of this paper. And I could have continued with this, I could have added a background to make it look like it stood out even more, I can continue to add some value changes here from on to make it darker, I could add some of the texture of the egg if I wanted to.
But this was just a practice to be able to learn how to see the value changes and how to create that curve just by having a soft value change and having control of your pencils and using all the value with each grade of pencil that you're using. And I hope that you had a lot of fun with this video. The next course that we're going to be having is we're going to be drawn a rose. I'm really looking forward to doing that and getting it started with you guys. And every single week I'm going to be adding some more video clips of how How to draw that rose until it's completed. And I can't tell you how long it's going to take for it to be completed.
Because we won't know until we get to the finish line. So I hope that you're going to be joining me with that course it's going to be a lot of fun, drawn flowers is a lot of fun, just that the beautiful shape of the Rose and the texture of the rose. And the way that the lights can actually hit it. And you know what, when you're done, it'll be a great gift or even if you want to sell that drawn, people love to have a drawn of still life of a rose. So I hope you had a great time again with this video and I really look forward to seeing you next time.
