When we remember what happened, our senses come alive, and it as if we were there once again. Now is the time to choose what part of your life or the lives of your family that you want to remember and focus our attention on.

  • Remember the strand of beads as we decide what you will put the emphasis on in your manuscript.
  • Do you want to create a bracelet (focus on a single subject and examine it closely as to how it impacted your life--for instance, career, fatherhood, faith or spiritual experiences, etc.)
  • Do you want to create a necklace (focus on a longer or larger part of your history--for instance an overview of your life with an emphasis on important events that impacted you personally.)
  • Do you want to remember a specific event (as a pearl ring) and really dig deep into the who, what, where, when, and how.
  • Perhaps you want to include family recipes and the stories that go with them.
  • Crafting more effective stories and how they come together.
  • What is your theme? What is your hook? What makes me want to keep reading?
  • Utilize the five senses as much as possible.
  • Don't worry if you write or record something and then decide later to take it out. All good writers do that.
