One of the UK's most successful marketers has produced this 192-page book, which you can think of as a "blueprint" for you. There's a lot of hypocrisy about earning money, as it often is seen as shallow and materialistic. "There are more important things than money" is a common saying. This is very insidious, mainly because there is a lot of truth in it, but the misconception is that these more important things stand in contrast to earning money. Having more money means you can enjoy more of the good things in life, not just buying "stuff" but travel, nice homes, good food - and having the possibility to be altruistic.
It's not a coincidence that Dolly Parton and Bill Gates both donate large sums of money to worthy causes. Just think, if you love to create, you can create paintings, music, dance, or whatever, simply because you have the time free to do so, not having to work for someone else. This last bit is really important - I'd say that a lot of jobs, possibly even a majority of them, are not what you'd choose you're really passionate about it. For most of us, a job is something we do to make a living if we're lucky we actually find it inspiring and worthwhile - at least some of the time.
But, if you're honest, is your job what you'd choose to do if were completely free to choose?
If you ask 100 people if they want to be seriously rich, maybe 10% will say "yes", the rest will mouth platitudes like "money's not the most important thing in the world". Yet a large fraction of these will more or less regularly buy a lottery ticket. So they do want to become rich, but not work for it. What I want to say, in short, is the truly important things in life are not in opposition to making money, they complement each other.
