Welcome to ultimate drumming calm. I'm Jim McCall. I'm going to show you this really great sound and shuffle pattern. First I'm going to play it for you. Then we're going to break it down note by note and show you how it works. In order to play these shuffle patterns, you got to be thinking, eighth note triplets.
I count eighth note triplets, evenly, evenly, evenly evenly. I play on everything that I say. It's gonna go like this. evenly, evenly, evenly, evenly, evenly, evenly, evenly, evenly, evenly, evenly, evenly evenly. Now when playing the shuffle pattern, I'm leaving out the middle note of the triplet, which would be the end note. So I'm playing on everything else, but every time I get the end, it's arrest or silent, it's going to go like this.
He then Li evenly, evenly, evenly he then he even the even the event. Now the problem with that when you start picking up a little bit of speed, it's kind of a mouthful. So we're going to simplify it and candidate 12341234. But it's important that I maintain that triplet feel all the way through the pattern. Whenever I'm playing a shuffle. It's gonna go like this.
12341234 Evenly, evenly, evenly, evenly. to free up for snare drum, it's gonna go on beats 214. I'm gonna coordinate the two hands together. What up to a 3413 what The bass drum is going to go on beats one and beats three. I'm going to coordinate it all together. First I'm going to try just with a hi hat in the foot.
It's gonna go like this 12345 Now I'm going to add the snare drum on beats two and four. I'm going to keep it slow. goes like this 123 A great variation on this for softer music would be to play a cross stick, click with the left hand on the snare drum go like this 123. Now once you get comfortable with that template, we're going to speed it up a little bit There you have it another excellent sounding rhythmic pattern that you can add to your repertoire that you've learned at ultimate drumming.com. I'm Jim McCall. Thanks for watching.
