Acupressure is believed to be the ‘mother of acupuncture’, in that it predates the use of needles to stimulate energy within the body. It is probably one of the oldest and most effective healing systems that can be practiced by a professional or a layperson.
In acupuncture, fine needles are used to stimulate acupuncture points whereas acupressure acupoints are stimulated with either the thumb, finger, or elbow.
