About the Class

What will you learn in this course?

Aerodynamics is the study of the forces and moments acting on an object as it moves through a fluid. In order to understand aerodynamics, we must first understand some fundamental concepts of fluid flow. This course covers these basic concepts that provide the foundation for two and three-dimensional aerodynamic analysis.

Key Concepts Include:

  • Lagrangian and eulerian fluid analysis frameworks
  • Conservation equations
  • Inviscid, incompressible, and irrotational flow
  • Vorticity and circulation
  • Elementary potential flows
  • Superposition of potential flows
  • The Kutta-Joukowski theorem

This course walks through the concepts and mathematics at an understandable level. You can speed up, slow down, and re-watch the videos to match your pace.

This Course Includes:

  • 42 Lessons
  • 5.5 hours of instruction
  • 72+ page handbook
  • Workbook with 21 practice problems
  • Solutions manual for guidance

At the completion of this course, you’ll understand the foundations of aerodynamics and be ready to step into the exciting study of wing and airfoil geometries. So let’s get started.

Aerospace Engineer and Teacher
Hi - I'm Doug. I love airplanes and math. Why are my courses so cheap? I believe higher education should be available to those of all economic circumstances and geographic locations.  My pre-recorded classes grew out of the pandemic that forced higher education to go online. I wanted to extend my reach to students who don't have the opportunity...

Conquer the Math of Flight
Through our study of aircraft design, we have grown to love the beautiful mathematics behind aerodynamics and flight mechanics. These analytical solutions grew out of intense work by aerodynamicists that were well versed in physical laws and mathematical principles. With the development of the computer in the 1960’s and subsequent improvements...
