Hello everyone, in this video session, I am going to explain part 16 of selenium for new features that is the Selenium four release details. So Selenium four is abuzz nowadays and in this video session I am going to explain all the release details. Okay on Selenium four so far as of today it's November 7 guys 2019 Okay. And actually started in Bangalore Selenium conference, okay. A Selenium conference hosted in Bangalore on August 2018. Simon Stephens, the founding member has announced that Selenium four is going to be released on this Christmas 2018.

Okay. The Christmas 2018. He answered that does the new version of selenium that is Selenium four is going to be released on Christmas 2018 Okay, in one of the Selenium conference hosted in Bangalore on August 3 2018, but it didn't happen guys, but Selenium four is not released as per the announcer date is not released. So But guys, we are expecting Selenium for to be released soon anyhow, maybe in this Christmas Okay in this October 19 Christmas that's a that is in December, something around 25 or in the next month that is in January like entire communities hoping that the Selenium four version is going to be released soon in the next month or the next next month that is in January, but we are not sure anyhow. But the community is expecting and whatever the progress that is going on, on selenium, if you see from the outside, it feels like it's going to be released soon.

Anyhow, fine. So it Window the Selenium four version is not officially released okay when the Selenium four is not officially released it currently we have the alpha versions of of selenium four available in MV and repository. So let me show you you go to this a MV and repository. It's not officially released again Selenium four is not officially released but some alpha versions are available. Okay. You search for selenium, Java in this ambient diversity and select this you can see the last version of selenium 3.14 1.59 okay in the last stable version of selling embrace 3.14 1.5 and after that, they have released three alpha versions so far.

Okay, this one in April 2018. The first alpha version was released in April 2019. Okay, and after that, you see then in July 2019, another alpha version was released in September 2019. alpha version got released. Okay, so these alpha versions you can use but they're not officially released yes okay this alpha versions are available for Selenium four, but they are not officially released yet. So, but can you use all four versions as alpha versions, which are in testing phase alpha versions means they are not stable versions. Okay, this version of selenium three that is a stable version here, but coming to the alpha versions, they are like still in testing phase and it's not recommended guys to use them in your real projects.

Okay. In your Selenium projects don't use it. But what you can do here is you can actually try or experiment them can simply try like what are the new features if you want out of your curiosity if you want to find out how Selenium four is working and any difference between Selenium three and selenium four by working with Selenium four, and then any new features added new commands or methods added or anything difficult duplicated or removed you want to just find out such kind of things you can simply configure them in one of your Java projects in Eclipse or something and then try it and experiment all the commands okay which are new or removed or you can find it out like how they are working just for trial and dies fermentation purpose you can actually use this alpha versions guys okay, out of your curiosity you can use this but don't it's not recommended to use in our implement in your current project phase.

Again that is not recommended because you may face some issues or challenges because this Selenium four alpha versions are still in testing phase alpha means testing still okay they have to go through the beta phase and then finally, get released as of Shelly release as a mobile version into the market. Till then we have to wait then we should not implement them in your in our projects. Okay. And we can only try our experiment to see what are the new features that got introduced in Selenium for alpha versions. All Curiosity has. So but once this is officially released, we don't know when that will be released as we are expecting that to be released in either December or January and as community is expecting okay.

So, if it is officially released then it will be available in this website yes it should be available in this website for now, if you go to the Selenium HQ dot o RG and go to the download page, as you can see, the current shell version is 3.14 1.9 fine and that is the last stable version of selenium three after that there is no version updated here. So, if it is a Selenium four is actually released version number of selenium four will be updated here for sure. Okay. So we are still waiting for them to update and release. So once it is official version is released, then we can start implementing and upgrading our projects with a stable version of selenium for that guys. We should not be using the Selenium for alpha versions in our existing projects.

So like way to check the current status of the Selenium for like, we're expecting that to be released in December that is Christmas of 2019. This Christmas or the next year, January, and on some date, but it's like, but we're exactly how to find the current status and what is the progress? If you want to see that. This is a URL. Okay. So I'm copying this and I will take you to this GitHub page where they are updating what is the progress okay. As you can see here, selenium four, okay, they have updated on October 8 2019. Okay, so, these are the two things which are in pending. They have to complete them. All the pending stuff are here and you see there are some in progress stuff and There's done stuff like that Okay, so this is the progress guys this is a place you can see that they're still working on Selenium for and once they're good with all these items and once they complete all this to do list and then unless we may expect that they may release the Selenium for upselling in either Christmas 2019 or after January okay in January or after January, but it will be soon we are expecting but we are anyhow we are not sure enough about the date because it depends on them.

Okay, so these are the latest details that we have on Selenium four so far guys. Okay. So we can we can feel free to use the current version that is Selenium three until the Selenium four gets released. And at same time, we can try out the newly released Selenium four alpha versions that are available in the MV and repository to see what like what are the new features that are getting added. Okay. So far They may add a few more features guys, maybe after this Selenium for alpha versions, they may release another alpha version also, then by adding some more new features, we can keep on checking the list and see like what exactly is going on part of our curiosity case.
