Ceili, or group, dances are primarily danced to reel or jig music. This course focuses on reel music and the two steps that are required to execute these dances properly. It begins with an introduction to the music and includes varying music speeds for practice. This is ideally suited to beginners, people who have not had experience with Irish dancing before and are interested in learning the basics. If you have a love for Irish dance, music, and culture and want to get started with the right movements, this is the class for you.
Like any exercise course, check with your doctor to make sure you are healthy enough to perform these movements. Irish dance is a very aerobic form of dance and requires quick weight shifts and hopping on single feet.
