The next section of our vision and scope document is the vision statement. The vision statement, again should be tied together with everything else that we have documented up to this point. So everything related to the background, the business opportunity, the business objectives, the success metrics, all of that should be tied into the vision statement. So the vision statement again, should be supporting those things. So let's take a look at the example vision statement that we have here for our project that has been outlined in our vision and scope document we've been using for this course. The vision statement says provide customers and potential customers one website with which they can purchase products and learn more about the company utilize 80% shared content across North America and others regions sites to enhance brand identity and better administer the sites on the back end much easier.
Faster access to publish updates provide a global framework within which regions have some ability to customize, while operating within the infrastructure that will have been created for the initial launch with North America. So this vision statement does support the things that we've learned so far about this product. One thing that I would suggest if the stakeholder had given me this document, and this was their vision statement, I would suggest to them that they update that first sentence. So the first sentence says provide customers and potential customers one website with which they can purchase products and learn more about the company. We know that this is not actually true, based on the previous statements in this document. It's one website for North America, and then one website each for the other regions that our company has.
So we would want to update this to say, provide customers and potential customers, one website, per region with which they can purchase products and learn more about the company. So that's a better way of stating that it's only a couple more words, but it clarifies that we're not just looking at one website, we're looking at one website per region. So if you have five or six regions across the globe, then you want to make sure that everybody knows that that means that all six of those regions need to have their own website. So adding per region there will help clarify that. Now what I want to say here is that the vision statement if it is not in support of the other things in the document, it can actually create confusion on what we're really trying to accomplish with this project. So even though we have our background, which was our first section here, we have our background about kind of what our problem is, we have our business opportunity.
But if our vision statement isn't in alignment with those two things, then it can create confusion about what do we really want to do with this project. So again, as the BA, you need to look at that vision statement and ask the question, does this support our background, and our objectives and everything else that we've documented up to this point? And if it doesn't, then again, you're going back to the stakeholder that wrote the document and having a conversation with them, about how some things may need to change either in the vision statement or elsewhere in the document, if what's in the vision statement actually brings up other things that should have been thought about or included in previous sections of the document. And again, if you're the one that is creating the document, then read it yourself from that objective point of view and say, Okay, what I put here in the vision statement, what I got from the stakeholders when I talked to them, and what I documented here doesn't really support everything in the previous sections of this document.
And if not, then you're going to need to go back and make some changes to that. So you don't want to have a vision statement that is vague or unclear, or is not in support of what we already know. We want to have done for this project. There shouldn't be any surprises. In other words in the vision statement, it should be Yep, that's what I expected to see here.
