(Surgically Facilitated Orthodontic treatment,  aka. PAOO).

Periodontists, Oral Surgeons, and Orthodontists have expressed an interest in SFOT (Surgically Facilitated Orthodontic Treatment - Corticotomy and Augmentation) training, including promotion and incorporation of this treatment modality into their dental communities.

I have developed a detailed, surgically/orthodontically/marketing and practice management online seminar to meet this request. 

Each program is limited to six surgeons and 6 orthodontists.  This format stimulates substantial group interactive discussion.

Remuneration: All revenues generated from these programs are contributing to the Richman Family SOrtho-Perio Research fund, administered by the AAP foundation. These programs are basically fundraisers for SFOT research.

A suggested amount of $1,250.00, per attendee, will be greatly appreciated.. (The Richman  Family AAPF research fund is awarded annually to residents and young faculty devoted to research in the field of Perio-Ortho/SFOT).  No charges are incurred for residents in training or full-time faculty. However, full-time faculty are encouraged to make a nominal contribution to the fund.

The program is  4 hours long, either on the second Saturday morning of odd months, (10.00 am - 2.00 pm EST), or the second Thursday evening of even months, (4.00 pm – 8.00 pm EST).  Included in the package, and at no additional costs, will be a 1.5-hour introductory educational program for referring dentists in your community plus staff (including hygienists and assistants).  Customized programs and timing are available as needed.

The program will include practice managements pearls on incorporating this novel procedure into your community. These are the ‘tips’ I learned and mistakes I made over the past 25 years of successfully treating many thousand SFOT patients.

I also shall host a virtual SFOT study club periodically covering the latest updated literature, as well as case studies.

 Also, spontaneous treatment planning and problem-solving sessions will be scheduled, as needed for members. (Literature on this topic is abundant and increasing monthly).

SFOT (a.k.a. PAOO, POPA, and Wilckodontics) are innovative dental technologies, combining generative/regenerative
periodontal therapy with orthodontic treatment. This enables the dentist to minimize potential iatrogenic risk factors associated with
orthodontic therapy (see below).

Favorably positioned teeth, plus an enhanced mucogingival complex, facilitate an ideal and predictable long-term esthetics and function.

Therapeutic aspects of SFOT include:     

• Treatment of existing recession and periodontitis lesions.     
• Enhancement of thin biotypes, minimizing the risk of iatrogenic gingival recession associated with orthodontic treatment.   
• Greater post-treatment orthodontic stability.     
• Less apical root resorption.     
• Accelerated orthodontic treatment, usually completed in six-nine months.
• Less need for orthognathic treatment or extractions.
