Pitch Perfect
Intro to Crafting a Killer Pitch
In this chapter, we're going to work on creating a compelling one line elevator-pitch, that will hook producers into wanting to hear more. Then we'll cover Series Bibles and Treatments to round out your submission material. We'll start by crafting a logline.
What is it? Simply put, a logline is 1-3 lines explaining your story.
But, what if you can’t sum up your idea Or you haven’t had a chance to do that yet. Or you’ve only just started writing an amazing new story, and don’t have a pitch in mind? Don’t let that hold you back. As I share in the next section, I once rambled out a long, wordy, really bad pitch, but it worked because I kept one key thing in mind.
For every rule, there are dozens of ways to break them. That’s the only rule is that they’re there to be broken. If something works for you awesome. If it doesn’t set it aside and try something else. Go with what resonates with you. Whatever works at the moment. And trust that you can do this.
