Now we're going to take a basic broken nose and advance it and take it one step further. We haven't added blood because I'll do that last. But now I'm going to give the illusion that the punch was so severe that it splits her nose cartilage. And then we'll show you how to do leading. So to begin with, we need to make a paste. We're going to use prosaic adhesive.

It's a water soluble medical adhesive that we use to glue prosthetics down with and it's used in hospitals for operations and different things that hold you together. And we're going to mix it with a find silica dust called Cabo cell, and you get this at any fiberglass supply. Marine supply and primarily was created a second resident. We're going to stick in the pros adhesive with it. And turn the glue into a thick paste that I can sculpt and manipulate with water. And I'm going to sculpt a small split in her nose, and you can use it for all sorts of things.

We use it for scarring and you'll see in some of the different segments how it used to do all sorts of injuries. So first we begin by putting a liberal amount of pros aid in a cup. Always close your bottles after you use them that way, it saves a lot of heartache if someone accidentally knocked the glue bottle over. Now Kava sale is something you don't want to breathe in. Because of being a silica dust it's not very good for you at all. So use it very carefully.

You could wear a dust mask if it makes you feel more comfortable. I would advise mixing this On your own way from your modeling people in the truck and most wanna as much powder as you haven't glue. Then using a stir stick, I'm going to slowly folded into the glue into little particles dispersed in there. That is keep that as minimal as possible, minimal exposure of it to you won't do anything but you would want to be inhaling that every day, that's for sure. So as you can see the glues absorbing the powder. The one nice thing about Kava cell is that it will eventually disperse evenly in the glue and there will not be any lumps.

So once it's pretty much one with the glue then can stir a little more vigorously to spread it in. So as you can see the glue is getting thicker. An indicator of when it's ready is your stir stick will be able to stand straight up on its own. So right now we have to add a little more powder to the agencies getting more tastes like pros eight makes a pros a cream which we use for seeming prosthetics. If you have the cream you can do the same thing at the Kava soul to the cream, but I find their cream again for our purposes isn't thick enough. If you're familiar with prosaic transfers, same thing they will whip the cream for quite a few hours to get the moisture content down so that you get a piece as you can see, that's Now getting close to what we want.

As I said you should be able to stand your stick up in the middle of it. Now that we have our mixed pros a taste, I'm going to be using a makeup spatula that you can get in any makeup store pharmacy. We're going to add a patch of to the end to the bridge of our models knows you don't want it really sick because the secret is longer is going to take to dry. Spell stubby Aleutian it's part of her nose. Like I said then using just water brush Yeah, wait is he so when it dries turns clear, touchy word sin or sticker or actually splits going to be it'll get a gray skin look a little opaque which is fine. So we'll hide that with the coloring.

And if it's not totally dry all the way through, it'll dry on its own. So when you're estimating times to do a makeup you have to allow for the drying of the pieces. So now I'm going to put her nose you want to flare out the edges so it looks nasty and create a sense of depth for that Phone windows, but through. Make sure you don't have too much water on your brush at this point or you keep on doing what you've been. At this point, I'm just trying to get the tool marks out of the glue and make my hair a little more flared and nasty. Now we dry.

Now I always hold my hand in front of my model face when I'm using the hairdryer. Because if it's too hot for me, it'll be too hot for her or him. Whatever the case may be. The trick to the hairdryer is always keep it moving. Don't do that. Because again, makeup is not a contact sport, you try to make it as pleasurable as you can within reason.

Yeah, actors understand there's got to be a certain amount of discomfort at times, but you try to minimalize that. As you can see where it was really thin. It's already starting to dry clear, like inside the center, the slit and the edges. So we've dried our small build up so you can see it's all clear around the outside edges, and then the middle has a grayish white hue, it's skinned, so that's good enough to start painting. That said, Be aware because if you touch down too hard with your brush, you're going to dent it. So again, we go with the hour.

Color Palette using plain Bruce tone starting color The great thing about this paste is that is that any makeup or stick to it so if you were doing this with grease paint and you don't have to worry about it not adhering as a little white that shining through will be covered with blood in a minute. Cuz How could you have a hole like this in your nose and not have blood everywhere? Go dark injure injury to give it depth please don't black in the core because when you add the blood on top of this after it'll intensify that color even more. I'm gonna go with some blood tone on the outside kind of effect is great and a mom story torture sequence Okay, this numerous days you might want to make this little patch out of 30 degrees. would be almost so compressed stetic that you could use again and again, within reason, but most of kit make of effects are intended to be a one off.

What I mean by that is, an actor comes in for one day you shoot all his scenes or her scenes and they're gone and you'll never see them again. So I'm going to use a flick brush and the Bloodstone to even make it look more violent. Now, this brush is an acid brush, and you can get it in any art supply or hardware store. I've cut the brushes in half. And when we're doing bigger splatter patterns, I'll have a bigger brush and to do the same thing but I like this for the small tight applications because I have a little greater control of where I am Placing the blood. So I've got my random splatter pattern and as you can see, sometimes you can add in a second tone, a darker blood tone just to break it up a little bit to make the injury just appear a little more brutal as if when she got hit so hard, everything exploded and just splattered all over her face.

Now start to dress in blood around her nostrils. Take a breath. Okay, there's nothing more maddening than watching a show where there's a single, clean trickle coming out of a nostril. If you've ever had a bloody nose, you know that's farthest from the truth. blood coming out of your nose is coming from your sinus and almost forms a bubble at the end of your nostril so when it pops the blood literally covers the The entire edge of the nostrils not a clean run out of your nose and also makes it look a lot more violent. If you ever had a broken nose in this fashion, you would know that a river of blood would pour out of your nose because the blood vessels are so close in this area that it would come down your chin and we keep going.

So what we're doing here is putting in a bed line of blood. I'm going to use a little darker for the nostrils closer to the inside to give it a little more depth. Tear blood, show some of it coming down. The point of this is that if the blood starts to run off, instead of suddenly having clean patches, you would always have the makeup blood or the pink blood that you've applied, there'd always be something there. Right now this is your broken nose using paint. Our final step would be to dress it with stage blood.

There is as many bloods as there are stars in the sky. Fleet Street blood is a very popular brand, they have a fresh blood and quick drying blood for external use only. Your Dane has a dark, fast drying Blood, then nine makes a blood Krylon makes blood. So during the day these various demonstrations will introduce you to some of these different products and what they're used for. So I'm going to use a combination of the fresh drying blood and some dark drying blood. This would be the difference in color between a fresh blood and dark blood.

So using a brush, I'll first start by applying some of the fresh blood. Now I'll add a little dark blood to mix it up and make it look a little more interesting. So now with your final dressing so as you can see, mixing the two colors of blood gives it more depth and looks more real. Now the only other thing you could add to complete the illusion is to have them fill their mouse with blood. And if the scene and they'd been tortured for a while you could smear the blood across their faces if at some point they tried to wipe their face, and so on, so on. All these things would be discussed with the director, producer, and the actor.

And note, always put the blood on last way to get your character in position onset. Don't do this in the truck, or wherever you're doing makeup, because I'll guarantee that they will always change the actor's position. Then you'll have blood running in five different directions and it'll look odd. So always add your flowing blood last
