Are you trying to conceive after infertility, loss, preemie, or a previous high-risk pregnancy? Whether you're trying to conceive naturally, or are in the middle of fertility treatment, you know there's more to your fertility health than just meds, vitamins, and nutrition and you're ready to go all in.
If that sounds like you, Then you are absolutely at the right place! There is one factor related to fertility that doesn't get enough attention: stress.
Here's the truth: Stress affects both male and female fertility. Here's what we know:
Stress during the ovulation window, the research showed, translated into a three-month delay in conception. (Akhter, et al. 2016).
Stress is harmful to sperm and semen quality affecting motility (how sperm moves), morphology (its shape), and the ability to fertilize an egg. (Columbia University 2014)
Women who worked to reduce stress during an IVF cycle had more than double the pregnancy rates compared to the women who were not actively managing their stress. (Domar, et al., 2011)
The problem is that most stress management programs focus on anxiety reduction when anxiety is only one of MANY triggers of stress in your body. Grief, guilt, fear, lack of sleep, inflammation, physical pain, dehydration are also just as powerful as anxiety to trigger a stress reaction in your body.
