Welcome to Lesson One, understanding what people want. If you had to guess the three things people want most in life, do you think you could get it? I know when I first started to study this material, I could easily guess one of the three, but I was completely unaware of the other two. In this first lesson, I'm going to teach you what I have learned from Bob Proctor and john Maxwell, about what people want most and more importantly, why they want it. The reason this section is first is because it is important to understand desires and what people want. So we can use that as a basis to discover what we truly desire out of life.
I have found that there are three things that all people want. The first is that people want to be free from financial concern. That doesn't mean that you have to be a multimillionaire unless that's what you truly want. But I found that most people only want enough money to not have to worry themselves about how much the rent or how How much the mortgage will cost them if they can afford the new clothes or if they can afford that new car. What most people really want is to be free of financial concern. Bob Proctor always says it would be amazing how much free time you would have if you didn't have to think about money.
I can say from experience. That's true. Why is this true? Because when your mind is focused on where the money is going to come from, you're actually blocking the money from coming in. When you think these types of thoughts you're actually Sending out a message to the universe that you don't have enough, when in reality, there's always more than enough. You just haven't learned how to find it yet.
The second thing people want is to wake up feeling enthusiastic about how they will spend their day. Be honest with yourself here for a moment. Do you wake up feeling excited about how you're going to spend your day or do you wake up feeling tired dreading the workday ahead? Through my study of various leaders? I have found that people who know what they Want and are actively pursuing their goals tend to have more energy in the mornings and are much more enthusiastic about how they will spend their day. as Eric Thomas says, No alarm clock needed.
My passion wakes me up. Let me share a personal story with you. There was a point in my life where I was working for a job I really didn't like, in fact, I hated it. I'm sure we've all been there at some point. The hours were terrible. The pay was barely livable, and there was absolutely zero growth attached to the opportunity.
I would wake up in the mornings dreading having to go in and start my shift. I was waking up more tired than when I went to bed. Why? Because I was not enthusiastic about waking up. My passion was not waking me up. You know, there are so many people who wake up tired, who get ready to go to jobs that they don't like, because they're unaware of the infinite possibilities and infinite opportunities that are out there for them.
When you are able to discover your passion, develop a goal and make the decision to go after that thing that you want. You begin to wake up with a purpose with excitement of how you will spend your day. When you're going after what you want. It will be as if new opportunities just start to come your way. And you start to become increasingly aware of your limitless possibilities. When you begin to wake up feeling enthusiastic about how you will spend your day, I can guarantee you that your life will begin to change for the better.
Go after what you want. The third thing that people want is to feel significant or important. Have you ever worked with or been around people who treated you badly? Like you didn't matter? I know I have. How did that make you feel?
Probably unappreciated and undervalued. Now flip this over. Have you ever worked with or been around people who treated you well, who valued what you had to say and treated you like you were important How did that experience make you feel? probably pretty good, like you were valued. Over the years, I found that the best companies I've worked for, and the best friends I've made share the ability of making people feel significant. And in turn, they themselves feel significant because of the impact they've had on others.
In his book, intentional living, john Maxwell states that to be significant. All you have to do is make a difference with others wherever you are, with whatever you have day by day. This statement is important and actually eliminates all opposition because it's saying that you don't have to be rich or perfect or famous, or whatever else you can think of. It's telling you that you can start where you are with what you have. And now what you have is plenty. And as you begin to live a more significant life, you will begin to do more with what you have and be able to reach more people and help more people.
It's kind of like a snowball rolling down the hill as the snow Ball gains speed and gets further down the hill, the more snow will accumulate and the bigger it will become. The same can be said for your potential and your significance. As you begin to pick up speed and accumulate your significance, the more people you will attract onto your significance journey, and the more people you'll be able to help and the bigger the impact you will have on the path to mastering your mind and building your future, I've given you a foundation as to what I found most people want. Be sure to keep these three things in your mind as you build your future. Number one, people want to be free from financial concern. Number two, people want to wake up feeling enthusiastic about how they will spend their day.
And number three, people want to feel significant and important. If you can start to master these three things that I have just explained, you will find yourself making quantum leaps and your success and I know that you're going to learn even more in the Following lessons
