Hello, and welcome back once again to powerful PowerPoint presentations. And in this bonus lesson, we're going to have a little bit of fun and look at some of the more advanced features of PowerPoint. In this lesson, we're actually going to create the Family Feud game, which allows for an interactive experience when you're presenting something informally to say, an audience for training purposes or for information purposes. So this is what it's gonna look like, in the end, you're gonna have some sort of a graphic that sets it up. So the question in this case is going to be name a practical business application for PowerPoint, and you'll solicit answers from the audience, and they'll take some guesses. And if they get it right, then they'll you'll have a cheat sheet as to where the answer is you can uncover the answer.

And you can go from there. If they get a wrong guess then you can have some arrows and so you just click on the screen so the arrows come in. So it just creates a little bit of a fun activity for the audience. And for whatever reason, I in my experience over the years Audiences love little games to kind of wrap up sessions you could also use these kind of games to, to summarize, say a poll, the Family Feud is based on a poll of, say 100 people. And so this is another way of summarizing some study that's relevant to your topic, as opposed to just showing a graph or some bullet points from the findings. So with that in mind, I'm going to show you how you create this.

So to begin with, we're going to insert a new slide to get started, we'll insert a blank slide. From here, we're going to insert we're going to need to insert a picture of our background and so you can find a background picture on the on the internet somewhere or create your own. I'm just going to grab this one and insert it and there's our background. And so the next thing I did was I inserted some some shapes. So back on our home tab, we go and we find some rectangles. And so this will create we'll create our game board and our game board will have a big background like this.

We'll create another box. And we'll put this in the middle here. And this will be where we're going to put the question. And we're going to make that one formatted so that it's white. And then we're going to insert some rectangles below that. And we want these all to be the same size.

And so we're going to have the first one, we're going to make it orange, because that's kind of a family feud color, I believe. And we're going to copy that and paste it. And we're gonna make I don't know, six of these. So I'm just gonna use Ctrl y on my keyboard to make six of these. Our next step to this is to put some numbers in these boxes. So we'll say for instance, that top six answers are on the board.

So there's 12345, and six and there's our background. Select all of these boxes by holding down my ctrl key and then clicking on all the different boxes so that all these boxes are highlighted. I'm going to go over to my answer. animate, and I'm going to make them appear appears on click, and so you can see my animation pane over here on the right. On my first click, all those boxes will appear. So let's type in a question.

Now we're going to copy these boxes. Again, because I'm going to make an exact replica of these boxes. So I'm going to copy right click and copy, then I'm going to paste them. Now you'll notice the PowerPoint is actually copied over animation as well. And we want to get rid of that. And so luckily, they've they're all highlighted.

So I'm just gonna get rid of that animation. And I'm gonna have to select them once again, because I don't want them to be orange. I want these to be my answer boxes, and I'm going to make them black. And then we could just make up some answers along the line of presentations. Now once you've got your content input here, you can now go on and do the animations. Now we want these boxes to appear when we click on them, not in a particular order.

It has to be a random order and to Chief that, we're going to want to use a trigger. So we're going to want it to appear. And we want that appear to have a trigger associated with it. So it's on the click of a particular rectangle. And we have to know what our rectangles are, but I believe it was the fourth one we included. So we're going to do it on the fourth rectangle.

And we're going to repeat that process, we're going to want this to appear. And we're going to want to add a trigger so that it goes on the click of the fifth rectangle, and so on and so forth for each one of these appear. And we're going to want it to be on the trigger of when we click on this sixth rectangle. We're going to line up these boxes by holding our ctrl key once again, and then moving them around so they cover up those orange boxes perfectly. Now we've got to just add in what happens if they The answers are wrong. So here For this, you go over to your home, you can go over to your shapes menu again, I use just the big old black x that I was able to find from my shape menu, and it look like this.

And so I'm just going to draw three shapes. They're not particularly pretty. So let's format these a bit. So I want the color of this to be a red, I want to get rid of the fill so that there's no fill, and I want to format them so that the weight of these things is a lot more I'm going to say it's like a 12 point width to these things there. That kind of looks better. So I'm going to copy those.

I'm going to make three of those because they get three strikes and Family Feud. So I'm going to make three of those. And I want these to appear as well as random. So once again, we're going to make these appear. But again, we're going to new use the trigger, but we have to click on something else. And this time, we'll just click on the background picture.

So that's why that object There. And so once again appear if we click on the background picture. And once again one more time for the third one appear on the click of the background picture. Now, if you really want to make these fancy, you could kind of put a sound effect to these strikes. So to do that, you can use the drop down menu, and under the shape the effect options, you can see this is might be one of those situations where you use it a sound. So here I might use a bomb sound, for instance.

So we'll go on the second one, do the same thing at a bomb sound. Maybe we'll maybe we'll get really fancy we'll add the explode sound for that one. We've lost and now we should be ready to go. Okay, so now let's see what this looks like in presentation mode. So at this point, you can click your forward arrow that brings up the gameboard. Now you can ask your participants name a business application for PowerPoint and you'll solicit answers from your participants.

And they'll come up with various answers, you'll have an answer key in the background. You know, if they get amusement or they get presentations, you can use your mouse just to click on the answers as they come up. If they get the wrong answer, you'll just simply click on the background picture, you can click on the background picture anywhere, and the answers will come up. So that's how you can create a simple little interactive game. You can do this using Family Feud, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune or any other type of game show to make your presentations a little more interactive and interesting for your audience. So that's all for this lesson.

I'm Blair car. Bye now.
