The second practice is all about planning your day. So your day should be planned before it starts. When you have your day planned and your calendar blocked, your productivity is incredibly high. If you're not used to planning your day, do it tomorrow and see the impact it can have during the day because I wanted to make this class very practical. I'll be showing you how I plan my day, every day. You can try to replicate what I've been doing.
But it's also important to add your own taste. If you feel like the way I plan is not really the right way for you. There are hundreds of apps that allow you to keep track of your planner on your schedule of your tasks, but you can always use a piece of paper, a journal, or any other thing that allows you to write before buying this planner that you are seeing I did all of this on my iPad, and before having this iPad. I did everything In a sheet of paper, it doesn't matter which thing you are using. So don't create excuses for yourself for not planning your day. So when I use this planner, I just basically the side which things I will be doing in both hours of the day, and don't be scared.
No, you don't have to be working all of these hours straight. Sometimes I write rest. Sometimes I write watch YouTube videos, because, you know, if I worked a lot of hours if I made my mornings productive, I also allow myself to enjoy a little bit of other things that I enjoy doing. But I'll be showing you how I did this before buying this planner. So I start by writing the day of the week, and then I split my day into different chunks of time. So let's say from 7am to 8am or 9am to 10am, whatever, and then I decide which things I will be accomplishing in each of those slots of time.
You will need to check your calendar or task manager to see which things are coming in what they require from you. So let's say I need to deliver an essay next week, I'm going to block two slots of my day to make progress on that essay, perhaps the first block of time will be dedicated to researching and the second one will be dedicated to start my draft. So I just have to decide in which hours of my day I will be using or I will be doing those tasks when you spend a few minutes of your day planning the day ahead. By attributing activities and tasks, you have to get them to different slots of time, you suddenly see yourself making more progress than you ever did before. But it's important to prioritize the activities that are really meaningful to you and that will help you to accomplish your ambitious goals as Brendon Burchard that if you're leaving your time to randomness, you're stealing from your greatness and don't Think that planning your day will take your freedom away.
In reality, when you spend the time planning your day, you avoid spending countless hours doing meaningless things such as watching YouTube videos and refreshing social media. If you plan your days and follow through the plan, you will have a lot of free time. But still, you're going to accomplish a lot of things. Those who don't plan their days or Don't even start, the thing they should be doing are the ones who complain the most about not having time. Remember, you can always decide how your day is going to look like we can control the way we experience our days, every day. And remember, you can always block some hours of your calendar to have fun and to do other things or to learn a new skill.
The lesson is not to work 12 hours straight a day, but to make each hour count, especially making you to count towards the process of achieving Your biggest goals. If you do have a goal, you have to block time every day to work towards it. Your daily planners should make clear in which things you are currently focusing on or which goal you're trying to achieve. As Peter Drucker said, and feel we can manage time, we can manage nothing else in Don't forget to schedule all of the skills that you want to be learning throughout your month or year. It's really easy to postpone the acquisition of a new skill. But remember that those skills might be really necessary to make you advance in your career.
Grab a piece of paper in brainstorm all of the skills that you should be acquiring this year to make your goals even closer. Block time each day or each week to learn all those skills that you really need to work with. Remember to focus in one skill at a time your daily planner or calendar. will be your best friend when trying to achieve any of your biggest dreams. If you combine the habits of planning with a habit of focusing which you should, each block of time will have your full attention and energy, which will allow you to make progress much quicker. This goes a little bit out of topic, but I think it's important to cover this I asked myself a set of questions every single day that helped me to stay focused, not only my goals, but also in the things I want to be feeling every day and the things I want to be doing for others.
Some of those questions are what am I really grateful for today? What am I excited about? What feeling do I want to be feeling every day? How can I make others feel good? And what can I do for other people? How can I help them?
And these questions are really important to keep my mind in the right place. Some people struggle to dedicate time and attention to their personal projects, but not To work related projects, because they don't have anything nor anyone to hold them accountable. So I'll be covering that in the next lesson.
