Hello freelancers, today I am going to talk about the best time tracking apps for freelancers. And I have tested a lot of them more than I think 10 apps and I have finalized two of them which are very great in terms of their packages, like some of them are free pricing. And some of them can be installed on all the platforms like Windows OSX, or Linux. And the third feature I look for is their integration. So if your clients are working with some Trello board, or Basecamp project, you can integrate those in your freelancing time tracking app. Okay, so the first one I'm going to review is this top towel app.

I think it is one of the best top tracker and let me show you it's a tracker. Okay, so here it is. It is the desktop app. So you can create project or you can select the project over here you can see it is already over here. The project I created, then you can also add the offline Ares if you haven't worked, okay, so if you forgot to add some time, you can add it over here, then you can like one R. And this is the description. Let me add some description and submit.

And it can show that it has already added. Okay, then it has some preferences, you can set you can log in log out, you can start your tracker, add some description and it is really great, very simple, very elegant, and just do the thing which it should supposed to be doing. Okay, so here it is. Now, let me show you the dashboard it has, if you log on you can see you can you have the 10 different timeline over here, your projects, your time your description of those projects. Let me refresh so I can see my time over here. So I have added some time over here.

And you can create new projects and there are reports time reports you can see over here however, work, you can export it to PDF PDF, so you can send it to your clients. Okay then it has a good interface. Very nice, very simple, very straightforward. Okay. Now the second one is the tracker and time tracker from Upwork desktop app. You can see over here if you have created a profile on upwork.com, you should go to this my jobs and you can see your contracts over here.

So if you have already a contract right now I don't, I am not working on Upwork. So I don't have any contracts. So download your Upwork desktop app and install it and what you will see is when once you log in, you will see basically two windows. One is this time tracker and second is this message. You can directly message your clients. You can see over here I have different conversations with my clients over here you can see even I can attach files.

And here is basically the time tracker. You need to select the contracts. From here, and you should start tracking your time over here. Right now I don't have any contracts so it is not giving me any option. Okay? If you close this window, you can open it up from here.

And it is really nice. These two are I think the top one. I haven't worked on freelancer.com or guru.com. I don't know whether they have good trackers or not, but you can try them out if you have. Okay, the third one is this timely app.com and I tried using it and I think from user experience point of view, it is just okay not to create. Okay, so we can add time over here.

And you can see if I try to log in our This is the description and I can start the timer from here. Okay. Let me Okay, so I can add the timer from here or I can stop it updated. And are you can drag it like that it is really nice feature to add my hours like, one hour, two hour. Okay, so I have set my rate in the settings I guess, in the settings for my hourly rate you can see over here maybe. Okay, so one more feature I forgot about it is it can be integrated with a lot of apps.

So it will track your apps and time you are using it like email, Google Calendar, moves app rescue time, gi t hub, wake time and a lot of Trello and others. Okay, Asana two. So these are two project management tools Trello and Asana and it can also track your time with the Google Calendar, your whole schedule or something it can grab it. I think it's good but it just is okay for you know for the freelancers Let's see. Okay, so it is giving me some introduction to the screen. Okay, so you can see over here, this is how its time sheet is appearing.

Okay, so I don't see any option to Okay, so go to reports to generate the reports, time reports, and you can export them. It has two options in Excel and PDF format. I think it's good because it has the you can say Mac App iPhone app, I think windows for Windows, it doesn't have any app. You can use it on the web. And it has good integrations, apply it or integrated with other apps, like I have showed you before. You can add projects you can add users.

So I think their navigation is straightforward. Good app. Okay, the second best from my point of view, okay. Then we have this toggle and I am using it from some time it's trial and I have used you can see over here I have added few tasks over here and you can see here we have the summary reports. Very nice presentation and you can export it in PDF and CSV and I think this is for their premium accounts. Okay, I like it, it just records your time.

I think it doesn't show me the billable time for my free account. So if you are looking for free, this is not an option for you. Okay, so it also have a desktop app you can see over here, this is toggle desktop I can add a time I can add description select my project from here like this one is my project. And I can also add manual time or I can add some description and play it and it is going to record my time okay 321 and it is going to record my time okay so it is not showing me any update over here and it is keep on adding this so it has some problems I don't like its desktop app much but it's it has some you know issues and you can also use this manual mode I think I should stop it so started and you can use it like this timer so I think I will give it just maybe 70 to 80% marks good app but not recommended.

Okay. Then this one is primer er p time tracking and from my point of view, it is really cumbersome. It's you know, it's UX and a lot of items on it and for the first time I was just caught confused where how many things it resents me at a time. So very complex for me. I don't know maybe it works for a very large teams, but for me, I think it is really, you know, strange. Don't have nice presentation.

Okay. So try it out if you want, but I don't recommend it using it. Then this one, it is very popular harvest app. Okay, so it has a lot of things like invoices, and I really like its invoicing feature. It is really great. And here I have added some time you can see over here is my client name and few other things.

Harvest app is really great if you are trying to, you know, create a new account, their user onboarding is create. And I think there's top navigation is good, you can add projects, and you can see the reports you can create invoices. Like that, and I have one draft invoice you can see if I try to click it you can see over here, I added my photo on the logo but you can add logo customization and a lot of things like tax values and you can attach a file to the invoice and also you can give discounts. Okay, so let me edit this invoice. The invoicing feature is great. The next lecture will be about invoicing apps.

And I will discuss this in that portion. Okay. So for no on their time management is okay. I think from my point of view, I don't know much about integration, I think it can connect to QuickBooks. Also to zero These are two I think accounting software's. Okay, so these are the two integration it can have and if we go to Manage Let's see what we have we can add new people over here like employees or not now maybe some other roles.

Okay so department regular user project manager administrator okay. So I think it is good for big teams and if you are really going after creating invoices for your clients, I think this one is good but it is again limited trial it is not free okay. So, another one I have tried is the stick export.com and their onboarding and everything is good, their timesheets and project management is also very good you can see here I have two tasks component which I have started and this is my project and this is my company. So if I go to projects, you can see very nice, it is just good for time sheets. Okay, so also I think it can be integrity to different apps if you install your their Chrome Web Store app, so you can also use it on an iOS and Android Apple Watch and Mac App.

Okay. Also, I think they can be connected to Zapier and QuickBooks and freshbooks Basecamp Okay, so it have a lot of good options. And I'm not sure I don't remember right now and I am going to check out Okay, so it also has a 30 day free trial it is not going to be free for freelancers and and and let me go back. Okay, so this is my toggle timer. Let's shut it out. Okay, so tick is good.

And it has good integrations, if your company or the managers you are working with have QuickBooks or freshbooks or they are working with Basecamp you can use this one. Okay, so the other one I tried is this hub staff. And I think for me it was for big teams, and not good for freelancers. So if you want to try it, you can try it. Here it is their desktop app. And it really sucks.

It cannot, you know, log any manual time over here. Just a stop and start timer. That's it. And I really don't like this hub stock of stuff. Okay, so they have good options over here, very big web app, but for me, I think it is not very good. For bigger organization or bigger teams.

I think it might be an option, but I don't recommend using it a bit complex for my taste. Okay. Then this one t metric. Okay, so this is a new app I came across. And I think it really works very nice. The only thing the problem I see over here is onboarding and a few things.

I don't really Understand why these clients and projects is hiding under this settings. So if I need to add a new client or project I need to go to the settings. This is really, you know, bad UX. When I tried to use it, for some time I was you know, very confused here are my clients, or where I need to put a new project or where to start a new project. When I logged in, I just saw this time sheet. Okay, so this is really, you know, bad user experience from my point of view.

Only thing best about is it is is that it's free, okay. Also, it can be integrated with Trello. And you can see over here, Asana, assembler, git gait lab, GitHub, time tracking, JIRA time tracking, Pivotal Tracker, Visual Studio, online, time tracker, you track time tracker. And also, I think it has some browser extensions, like I have installed over here. Which you need for these integrations to work. And it is really nice, really good.

They have also have desktop app. I'm using it right now. Let me show you where it is. Okay, so you can start timer from here. You can like this. It doesn't have many functions, but it just can start timer from your desktop.

That's it and it shows this number of tasks you are doing. Okay. The last app I am going to introduce is this free app grindstone and I used it for some time for with some clients and it just have a desktop app like this one. Let me show you. Okay, now, it has a lot of good options like you can in the options you can set your hourly rate and few other things. Okay.

Also, you can see it can show create reports and let me see What are the fields okay you can go to this dates and add different rates for different projects or maybe fixed rates for different tasks okay then you can create tasks from here and you can name them estimate the time when they are do completed or not okay so you can select rate from here like this and it will be applied automatically like landing here so and I just need to start the timer and I can hide this one and this one will be at the top of my screen okay so I can stop it and it can also detect idle time if I you know, move out from my chair it will stop the timer after five or 10 minutes, I guess and it is really great. I have used it many times thing I like about is this reports you can generate different reports You can save them as a PNG, jpg.

Okay, so also you can generate this summary, okay, like that timesheet summary and you can save it with CSV file XLS x Excel. workbook. Okay. So it has good options. I'm not sure whether it is available for Mac or not. But it can generate time and timesheets and everything.
