Hi there, it's Rebecca here. And now we're going to learn how to make you attractive to recruiters and hiring managers out there. So there are a few tricks I want to show you. Just bear with me, I will share my screen with you. And let's get started. So we have already learned together how to build an executive summary.

We've learned how to make your achievements look big, how to get past the filters and screenings and use keywords and buzzwords and how to cover gaps. So now we want to make you look very attractive. Because we want to put all the tenses on your side, I want to teach you a few tricks to make your profile look very attractive to recruiters and hiring managers out there. getting noticed is the one thing that you need and there are a few ways to do it. So one of them The best ways to do that is by having a highly respected academic institution in your resume in your profile. So maybe you didn't have the chance to go to one of those prestigious universities, but you have the chance to put them in your resume, because you could actually undergo one of their extension programs, extension, Continuing Studies or adult programs that they have.

And these programs are a lot of value for little money. So it's not the kind of price that you would pay for a bachelor or master or an MBA, not at all. And these programs can be done in person or fully completed online. Columbia University also has great, a great online marketing program. Berkeley Extension is by far the best I think. But then there's Harvard as well.

Like I said, Stanford, I'll share with you all the web pages that you can where you can consult and and You can visit in order to select the best program for you. And then there's herro. So this is help a reporter out, this is a good way to be published because being published gives you a lot of visibility and credibility and authority in your field of study. So I want you to be published and there's a shortcut to being published. If you're not, you know, a prestigious journalist. And I want you to use referrals.

This is a really good way to be noticed, by recruiters because if you have a friend who works in the company that you want to work for, you can just let them know that you applied for a job there, share with them the job description, you know, your resume your cover letter and let them inform their HR that you have applied. And that you that you are someone that they know that they trust, so that you can get an interview a little bit faster than all the other candidates and I want you to partner with local agencies. recruitment agencies, placement agencies, temporary work agencies because they obviously want to place talent and you want to find jobs, they have the jobs, you have the talent, so it's a good partnership. It's definitely a win win for everyone. So here are the courses, the extension courses that I mentioned, this is the web page for the Berkeley, they have fully online and then they also have you know, in person course, depends on the topic and they have every kind of topic covered here.

I mean, biotech, it, they have, you know, HR marketing, you can do finance, business related type of courses, there's a lot that you can do on their page. And like I said, it can be an in person course, could be also an online course and some of their courses are very complex. It takes about two years to get finished, and they would actually be sufficient in order for you to apply for a student visa, if you want to live in the US. So this is a good tip for you to have and to know of. And then there's Continuing Studies at Stanford University, they're great as well. They're very affordable, and they have online and in person courses.

But the waiting list is quite long, because of course, it's a really prestigious university that so there's a lot of people applying for these courses. So you want to apply as fast as possible and get through the waiting list. And then there's index, you have even free courses and an index but I want you to be sure to apply for a course that is offered by a really prestigious university. Don't just take a course. For the sake of taking a course I want you to take a course in a very prestigious university because the aim is to put the name of a very prestigious university In your resume, okay, so this is the goal here, we want to get you more visibility more credibility by putting the name of an international academic institution in your profile. And here is herro.

And these are all the media outlets out there that work with heroin. So there's time there's Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, Fox News, all of these, they, they partner with heroin. So what is heroin? heroin is like I said, help a recruiter out. So if you have information input ideas that you want to share about a specific topic you will receive every day in your in your email, the list of topics that they are researching inputs for and if you have inputs, you send it to the journalists, and if they like it, they publish it. And they will mention your name.

They can even put your bio your picture. So that way you get published without actually being a journalist and You get published in one of those, even others, a famous media outlet. So this is a really great shortcut to get published and get visibility. And here is the referral system on LinkedIn. For example, if you're applying for a cloud engineer at Oracle, you see, I have, I don't know, seven connections, I know people at Oracle. So let's say I'm applying for this job, I could just click here on the I can ask for a referral, and LinkedIn has that set up for you.

So it's super easy. You click there, and you send a note to your friends or one friend actually, that you know who works there. And then they will be able to so they receive the job post they receive your application as well as, as well as HR will, right. So you apply for the job through this referral, so that you get the interview a little faster. I mean, it's not a guarantee, but it's definitely a better a shortcut and a better way to go about applying for jobs. So don't be shy because if you do get hired after the three months probation period, your friend gets a bonus for for referring you.

So this is a really good tool that I recommend that you use and recruitment firms so there is recruitment, staffing agencies, placement firms, headhunters out there, they're chasing talent, and they sell you to the corporation to the clients that they're working for. I want you to partner with them because they want to place talent just as much as you want to find work. And you don't have to pick one, you can just have too many, but you can't apply to the same job to different agencies. Okay. So if there's one job and you're applying to that one job through different agencies, that's going to be a problem. Okay?

So just make sure to apply to one job at a time through one agency at a time. Definitely use them. I would definitely recommend them and work in partnership with them. So I put a little list of firms here that you can check out. It's not an extensive list, but it's, it's definitely going to help you get started and maybe select the ones that are specific to your industry to your area of work. I want you to also keep in mind that it takes a whole village to find a good job.

So if you're doing your job search alone, you are doing it wrong. Okay. There's no shame in career growth and career development because that's what you're doing. You're trying to develop your career by finding your next job. And you're never going to say that you're unemployed, you're always going to say you're in a transition. Okay, you're just shopping around to find the next opportunity that will work well for you.
