But where to begin? Many administrators know that this is a problem yet with all of the initiatives being passed down from the district level they are burdened and unable to take on anything else.
This course takes two frameworks from positive psychology: the PERMA model from Dr. Martin Seligman, the "father" of positive psychology, and the VIA character strengths model. The course provides a practical way to look at a school's culture and find opportunities to build strengths and address the various factors that lead to burnout.
Joan Young takes the research of burnout and pairs it with real-life strategies to build emotional regulation, fuel engagement, foster relationships, rediscover meaning, recognize and foster accomplishment, and address health on an individual and an institutional level.
