Which of the following air temperatures will the speed of a sound wave the closest to 1000 feet per second? Well, what you need to ask yourself is where in the above equation that they gave us, which is all the way up here, this guy right here? Well, you put 1000. So you essentially want to plug in 1000 somewhere and you want to solve for the air temperature. Well, the thousand units for that is feet per second. And they told us here, that feet per second is the speed of a sound wave, which is a, so we want to plug in 1000 here, and we'll solve for the air temperature which you see, you can see in the answer choices, all the answer choices have their units in degrees Fahrenheit, so we're solving for T by plugging in thousand for a while.

Thankfully, in number nine we already solve for t so if we plug in a second For a we will get 1000 minus 1052 divided by 1.8. So that gives us negative 52 divided by 1.08. And if you plug that in, you should get something close to negative 48.15 and the closest answer choice that is B
