Hello, in this programming video, we are going to take a look at strings. So we took a brief look at strings in the data types video, but we're going to take more advanced look at it and have a look at the different methods that we can use with strings. So first of all, this is great sense of strain, sto equals, Masters put Hello, world, the simple one, and I'm going to first of all just print this is a system, dot out dot print line. I'm going to put STR and if I run it, we should get hello world in the console. That's cool. everything's working.
It's always good one simple work. Now, what we can do is literally check which character is at a particular location so we can do that we can do it's cool. chart. So, how to locate the only System dot out dot print ln. And the Center for this is simply put the string, so sto dot x. And if we do it, one, see what we get.
So you know this right here, it will return a character, you could assign that to a character data type, you could use in an if statement. anywhere that you can use locator. You can use this with putting in the system out print lines, because it's just easy to use. And we see the immediate results I say a lot because computers start at zero to zero, it will pull up one. I mean we'll put Ah, okay, so that's the character location and now You might need to know the length of the string. And that's you know, really easy as well, you might guess what it is.
I did try doing it while I'm you know, just putting, going lamphere. And even pause the video and take a look. And if you get confused, feel free to start again. So it's just the name of the screen, dot lamp. And lamp is a method we need to put open closed brackets when I call the methods later on in this series. So if you click right, it returns 11 because it's 123456, the space indicator law 789 10 and 11.
So if I were to add a couple more, it returned 13 because even though we might not see this any different, there is extra character there but something to bear in mind. So that's the lamps functionality. This one or the one that we're going to cover is Amit that is a huge amount of functionality that you can do is string strings could probably be its own course a university. I mean, like it is crazy. And there'll be a link with this video we'll go through all of the different features. But for now we're going to cover the basic ones.
If you understand these, you will be good to go with all of the other one. Well, okay, so what we're gonna do is we're gonna convert to a face and Windows system. Since mine in here, I'm going to put str inverse do.to uppercase, and that's it. So if we run it now it's all uppercase. So if we don't get Some input from the EU that we need in all uppercase with a lowercase I think you may have even saw the lowercase when the IntelliSense was popping up and suggested methods for str, feel free to try and do it to lowercase. If you've watched the characters video, you'll know what I'm talking about.
