Four intrinsic motivators. We just learned about the first two intrinsic motivators - Outgoing and reserved or your motor.
Now to the other two intrinsic motivators.
Are you more task or people-focused?
You'll be naturally inclined more one way than the other. We call this your compass. It can be 49 to 51-percent of the time and you aren't stuck to your decision, but if you had to choose which one you gravitate to what would it be?
A simple story we sometimes tell to help people determine which they are more inclined to is this. You are out raking leaves and have just an hour to complete your task. You just started and your neighbors come walking into the yard.
Do you keep raking and nod while continuing? Do you pull out another rake and have them help? Or do you stop to chat, but you are secretly annoyed they are putting a damper on your ability to complete your task?
If so, you may be task-focused. On the other hand, if you would drop the rake and chat away or blow it off and invited them in for coffee then you are likely more people-focused.
One is no right or wrong. One is not good or bad. It's just how we are wired. Choose now which one you would pick. The more people-focused styles are the I and the S. The more task-focused styles are the D and the C.
Time to move on.
