Okay, so we have everything and everything is contained within this. If you see the lid goes up here, that's the lid right there and it's within this track mat. So nothing is getting cut off when we bring it in, which is perfect. That's what we need. Okay. Everything is looking great.
Now to animate the cup so first the this falls off and then the cup will start to fall here. So grab the cup, go position. It's going to fall. Remember to set your position here, otherwise it will drift. And then go a few seconds, a few frames and it's going to fall. Now this one I like to rotate just slightly.
So I'm going to move it all the way down to here. And then I'm going to bring up rotation shift our brings up rotation. And again, I need to go back to this keyframe and set this rotation there so it doesn't move. So it stays stationary here. See how that happened. So here, this rotation is set, and now it's rotating like crazy.
Back to zero here. So the reason it's doing that is it's we have this as auto Bezier This is why I always try to put it all as linear now once this is set to auto Bezier this entire row will say auto Bezier and then I do not want so if I go to if I go to here, here see what it's doing it it's like has these weird things in it. And that's because of it being auto Bezier Okay, what was going on was the auto bezzie A was causing this keyframe here to have influence going out. We want to know out influence here. So I just took that influence handle pushed it all the way into it, and it went away. Don't give up on something if you if things aren't going the right way, think something weird happens, then just play with it.
It's still, you know messes up with me too. So, okay. So now this happens there, and we get to here and this rotation is still at zero, but as it falls, I want it to slightly rotate. So what I'm going to do is rotate it over, not too far because we don't want it to hit the lip there. So I'm going to say maybe a positive three. It's going to be very subtle, but as it falls stretch this out.
It's going to tilt Just a little bit, and it's extremely subtle, but again, it's that subtlety that really sells the effect. With our position, again, we want this to the speed is going to start at zero, starting slow and getting very fast. Because it's falling, it's dropping into a hole. So start slow, gets very fast. Good. And we could even spread that out.
I like the rap. But I'm actually going to take this one Add a little bit more, and I'm going to spread. Spread this one out just a little bit more. Because I want it falling a little quicker it'll be a little slower just becomes a subtlety. And notice that the rap has a little bit off on that mat. You notice there are Matt has off just a little bit.
What happened was I scaled this mat slightly, if you recall that. So the best way to do it to make a guess and see how to get it there, but what I'm going to do is just delete all of these redo them. That's the best way to do it to make sure I get that curvature. Exactly right. Okay, so there you have everything, I've marked them in green, all the whole mats are back, it's just so much easier, more accurate to just redo it, it doesn't take very long to redo it. Plus, it's good practice, just to make sure that this curve is correct, because I could scale that back and tried to guess.
But again, I'm just guessing and I don't like to do that. I like it to be accurate. So that's back. The other issues that I was having was, I mean unparent this that I realized was the lid shadow only shows up in this matte birth cup too. So if I have no parent there, and it starts to animate, notice that the shadow from the lid is there a shadow on nothing and that's not working. So what we have to do is put everything back in position.
Where's the final position and this cup is over it a cup to grab the Pequot and parent it to the cup. Now where the cup goes, it will go. Now here, it's okay, the cup comes in first and it's always over the cup. Now the shadow shows up. Perfect. That's exactly what we want.
Now here, it's going to have to the wrap drops away then the cup drops away and notice as the cup drops away, so it does the shadow goes away as well. And that's what we need. It's those little things. So that drops away just like that. Okay, last thing is the lid. So as this pulls away, I want it to be clear of the lid.
About right here, so it's gonna pop off the lid. And then we're going to go to the lid. And here's where we have to make a decision. We can either have it rotate or have it just fall. The interesting thing is that our anchor point is here on the side. So we have it rotate, it's going to rotate around this point, not spin in the center like my original one that I showed you, it's not going to spin there because that's not where the anchor point is.
So we have a choice, you can use one of two ways you can just deal with this. Because of where that anchor point is on the lid, we can have it fall and just rotate slowly into the hole and this be the rotation point this would rotate down, which is perfectly fine. That's an easy one, we do it just exactly how we did with the cup there, where it rotates slowly. The other option that we have, and the way that I did it on the original one was we actually duplicate the lid and make it lid to and then move our anchor point. You can't move your anchor point on the same layer without moving that position and move Everything. So in order to make this spin, we're gonna have to move the anchor point of the lid.
And I actually want lid to, to be here, if you decide to do it this way, and that means that this lid has no track mat, and this becomes the track mat for the hole because this lid right here will not be going through the whole. But I want to keep this as the original because it has the shadow all parented to it. So if we get to here and at some point, we have to decide where to cut this layer off. So what I'm going to do is think before this animation starts, we'll cut it off. So we'll take this beginning part if you just hover here at the beginning, you'll see the arrows and take lid to to hear. Hold down Shift, it'll snap right to there.
And you can do the same here. Hold Shift and it will snap. And now these two lids actually overlap right here, which is perfectly fine. But here this first lid isn't showing up. This is only lid one. I know when that animation starts, now we're looking at lid two.
What's great about lid two, we can take these right here and delete them. Now it has no keyframes on it. And now we can take this anchor point, the pan buying tool, take this anchor point, Hold COMMAND and we can snap it to wherever we'd like it to snap right here in the center, and go snap it right there that looks like the center point of that lid. And now when we animate this and rotate it, it's going to animate and rotate from that anchor point, not from the side that we needed it to animate they're so animate that really quick and all it's going to be as the exact same thing. To cause it to rotate 234 times and then fall into the hole. And it already has this whole map on it.
So that will be perfectly fine. So just wait till it clears the cup and it will start to rotation and be animated. In animating this lid, I want it to rotate about four times and then fall. And what I did was I created this rotation and then I went into the graph editor and pushed it all to the right influence heavy to the right just like we did with the other things that starts to slow lowly fall and then gets quicker. Same with the rotation starts slow and gets quicker as it goes. And so now what I'm doing is just finessing it to make sure that we're not running into the cup.
You can see here it's kind of running into the cup, which means that I need to move these over just a little bit. I want it to start pretty close to when a cup starts to fall, but I have to make sure that the lid doesn't interfere with the cup too much and that looks like it's just kind of pushing it out of the way so that'll work perfectly fine right there. looking pretty good. I'm actually going to move this over one more frame because as it drops, I just don't want it to be any confusion that it's hitting that. One last thing we have to do is shut the hole. So grab hole mat here.
Once the lid clears the hole and it's gone into it. I'm actually going to grab these two keyframes copy Ctrl C playhead where you want Be Ctrl V. Now what we're going to do is grab them right click keyframe assistant and time reverse keyframes. What that does is takes your exact keyframes but just reverses them so now it slammed it shut. So here is our hole opens up everything falls subtle rotation. I think it slam shut a little bit too quick so we'll give it about four or five frames. Open fall in lid.
There we go. I like it.
