I'm Jim McCall. Welcome to ultimate drumming calm. This lesson is going to be about the basic beginning rock beat. First I'm going to play it for you several different tempos. Then I'm going to break it down note by note and show you how it works. This great sound a rock beat has been used on thousands of hit songs and all styles of music Including rock country, pop, metal, punk jazz.
So it's one you definitely want to have down for your repertoire. Here's how it works. First, you got to be counting eighth notes. To play the ride pattern. eighth notes are counted one, and two, and three, and four. And I can play the ride pattern on either the symbol or the closed hi hat.
It's gonna go like this. One, and two, and three and 41234. The left hand I'm going to play on beats two and four. It's going to play at the same time I'm playing the right hand on beats two and four. It's gonna go like this. One, and two, and three, and one and bass drum is going to go on the quarter notes beats 1234.
So every time I say 123 or four, we're gonna play the foot. It's gonna go like this. I gotta coordinate everything together. What and two, and three, and four. The fastest way to learn this pattern is to count out loud. Counting helps take the edge off the coordination and kind of makes everything mechanical.
I'm going to pick up the tempo a little bit what A little faster. There you have it another great sound and rhythmic pattern you can add to your drumming repertoire. Thanks for watching. I'll see you Soon at ultimate drumming.com
