In this section, you'll learn how to create your media press pack, your press release, and how to pitch to journalists so we can get your campaign moving. A media press pack or kit is a way of introducing your business or product to the media. It can be a patient website that contains information for journalists and bloggers and publishers. But the aim is basically to make it super easy for them to quickly learn about your business and to access marketing, PR materials, key statistics and infographics, photos and videos or any previous press coverage that you have as well. You're basically letting them know Hello, we welcome you here and has everything you need to put your story together on us. It's also helpful for other stakeholders who are interested in your business and may want to refer your business up That could be somebody or industry that has a regular podcast or a blogger, or someone who wants to collaborate on a project.

Covering a press pack basically makes it easier for everyone. So what goes in a press pack? The first thing to note is that a press pack does not guarantee press for your business. The pack is there for you to refer the media to as it helps journalists save on their time and researching you. So with a press pack or media pack, you have the most work for journalists up front. It shows that you're professional.

So to be more open to your pitches for press and media. Your press pack page should be easily accessible in your website. If you don't want to put a link to it in your main navigation. It's a good idea to include a link labeled press or meter in the footer of your website. So what do you put in it so it actually all depends on your business and what you have to work with. But here are a few essentials that I would recommend you include.

Number one being your history. So you want to share your story, how your business came to be, and a little bit about yourself and why you're doing what you're doing. Company facts. So you know, how many customers have you served? How long have you been in business? What year?

Did you stop business? Any other facts or figures that you can share with journalists? Where is your business located? Where is your product manufactured? How many packs have you sold? Do you source ethically you know, anything like that is really, really helpful.

Also, remember, a picture says 1000 words, so do make sure you have good quality photos available to illustrate your business. As I mentioned a bit earlier, photographs can make a big difference, especially in local news. Stories much more likely to be picked up. If it has a good photo. Nowadays, it's not uncommon to see a photo with a cap get good coverage. Good quality visuals are essential to successful coverage.

If you can afford it, I'd recommend hiring a professional photographer particularly to cover any events you have, or for any product launches. Also good to include some large high resolution images of your logo and branding. So you make it easy for journalists and bloggers to use your logo. And you could if you'd like, I mean, in addition to making sure it's high quality, of course, you could look at you know, making sure you have a transparent background which kind of makes it easier for you to use them on different retail outlets. But also don't forget to include your team and your media pack section. So your team if there's anyone else you know in your business besides yourself, share their stories and their roles and how they got involved in your business.

And include photos of yourself and your team. To articles you've always seen include other things like articles and the press you've had so far. So you know, if you have been featured anywhere you can include that or if you give any written the blogs for different outlets. Again, you can include that too. You could also look including all general video interviews, if you've done any, you know, any awards or recognitions that you've received. So for your business or your services provide the charitable work that you're involved in.

And my tip for the press pack would be think about the websites and publications you want to be on and think about what you can put in your press pack that will make it easier to get coverage. Remember, like I said a press pack makes it easier for journalists to talk about you, but you still need to put in the work to make it happen. Exercise starts to build your online press area based on the above suggestions. If you don't have all the info, use what you can. Images and company info being the most important and if you can also create an area for future news stories and coverage
