Now let's take a look at conscious breathing for emotional health. Breathing is truly unique because we can perform breathing either consciously or unconsciously. When we're breathing unconsciously, our emotional state is largely controlled by the circumstances of our life. What is happening in our life, or maybe even more importantly, what is not happening in our life controls our emotional responses, whether we're depressed, angry, afraid, worried, full of anxiety, but when we begin to learn to harness our breath, to breathe consciously with intention with purpose, we can then facilitate our emotional responses to a negative person, negative event or situation and thus control consciously our emotional health and well being
