Music probably the most important part when dealing with sound. And for video editors, where do we get music? There are many different options out there. And the biggest distinguishing factor you have to determine is whether or not your video is external or internal. And those two words I use by meaning. External means everything in the video needs to be licensed.
This is if it's for a commercial, or if it's going online to a company's website, or you're putting it on YouTube as your own work. Now, internal I've done plenty and plenty of internal jobs and those are for private meetings. Maybe a company hires you to do a pitch video where they are going to use a video to pitch to investors and that video and never See the light of day Other than that, or any type of enclosed conference event where the video is deemed internal. And if the video is deemed internal, then you carefully are open to use whatever music you want. And if that's the case, that's amazing. I use Spotify myself, but you could use Apple Music.
I mean, anything really, that helps you discover music. When I hear something on Spotify, I save it to a playlist. And whenever I need to, I've got a few here, something for EF something for video games, songs for video. When I hear a great song, I put those on there. And then what's cool about programs like Spotify is if you are on a playlist, you can hit go to playlist radio, and now they're all these songs that are similar to the songs I chose, but different and it's a great way To explore and find more new music. Now if your video is external, which means you have to license everything that means you probably are going to go to a music licensing website.
Now there's a lot of them out there and you can find them by just searching music licensing or stock music. But my favorite is audio socket. And the reason audio socket is one of my favorites is because they offer real music. These are not songs that are created just for stock library use. They are actually partnering with real artists that are up and coming or some that are already already way out there and just want to have their music be available. They're doing big things.
You can go to playlists, search by genre mood or themed depending on what you want. And or they will live chat. Look at that. They actually are really helpful. Shout out to Chris. I've already I've already picked a couple songs I want to work with called revolve by this band called sibling.
And I'm gonna go ahead and download both revolve which is the main song and the instrumental. It was see what we can learn from that.
