So welcome to the lecture on meditation and physical pain. So if you are experiencing physical pain in any way due to your surgeries from cancer or from anything else, you have my complete sympathies, because I've experienced chronic pain in the past. And I know how absolutely consuming and debilitating it can be. So please hang in there and let's see if we could use meditation to help alleviate some of your pain. Now, the reason meditation works so well, for some people in alleviating pain is that because pain sensors are sent to us through our nervous system and into our brain. And so when we meditate, our brain relaxes and slows down.
And we could actually release our pain or detachment or become disassociated with it. So in certain ways, medic to kind of be like medication. So when you take medication, for instance, the physical pain symptoms will be relieved. Also with meditations, the same and with both of them, when the meditation or the medication wears off, if your body is still traumatized, more than likely the pain may come back at some level. But hopefully with meditation, it will come back at a lesser level because we're doing some healing work with it. And with meditation, unlike medication, there's commonly associated with meditation, our side benefits instead of side effects, so everything from slowing aging process to stimulating our immune system.
So let's go to the meditation now. And let's see if we can take you out of some physical pain. So I'll see you there.
