Now let's sidetrack a bit from compositing tips and best practices and dive into the very clear war between a EA. And many industry pros even today still prefer and most of the times only use nuke and don't know how to use a at all. Well as many indie artists of filmmakers fresh out of school still prefer a because of its simplicity and ease of convenience of picking it up. So the real question is, Which side are you are? And the right answer is, there is no right answer. Personally, I just see them as a tool to use in whichever situation fits.
So anyway, what exactly are the differences between nuke and IE if we haven't already touched on all of them in this call so far? Well, to sum it up, he is very good and use both commonly for motion graphics and commercials It is layer based, and tends to work well with people who are familiar with Photoshop, kind of like just moving on one step further from compositing a still image to compositing moving image. nuke, on the other hand, tends to be more useful as a film and compositing software right off the bat. It could work well with commercials that are very visual effects heavy, but it's less useful for creating motion graphic elements and stuff like that. In fact, nuke is more equipped for more serious kinds of reality bending and image manipulations, pros and cons. Well, it really depends on your perspective, and it's also closely tied to their features, who uses them in the industry, and which one has more support or developments?
Once I think that both nuke and II have similar features as described previously, at this point, nuke is positioned better in the industry, I would say with most studios using them and some of them even going as far as to only using them for all visual effects use cases. On that note was I think both After Effects and new cats good support online. The thing that stands out to me about new is that it tends to be a bit more up to date on the current and latest trends. After Effects tends to allow users more openness and ease of using tools related to the current and latest trends by simply allowing the users themselves to write and sell the tools that they need, instead of integrating these tools on their end into the software itself. At least, that would be my opinion of it. Anyway, when after this cause you totally despise or love nuke, you should always just select a tool that works well if you or works best for the job.
So the war between A and nuke is really just off choice well within yourself in terms of deciding which one to go for. Just like Yoda, anyway, bigger picture, the washing off course also be then which job you're going to choose not the software without a doubt. Regardless of which one you choose some things about nuke never change and that's exactly what we'll touch on in the next lesson.
