This is Raj common law again, with lesson number seven. What is your plan? Now that you know some basic college facts, where do you want to go to college? And what do you want to study? To answer these questions, it is important to understand who you are and what you like. Perhaps you're strong in math or you're good in the way you write.
Or you can really express yourself through drawing, painting and the arts. Or you have excellent speaking skills based on all the competing you have done at school events and debate competitions or you're a good organizer Or you've learned a foreign language and are good at it. Or you're devoted to a social cause, such as working for a nonprofit on weekends. Or you're good at sports. Or you're good at multiple things above. Or you're good at something we didn't list above.
Once you know who you are, it becomes easier to decide what you want to study and where you go to college. The idea is to know what your interests are. Generally, these are what you're good at, and match them to a career that is hot and in demand. Then we can pursue a college education as the path or route to get to your destination. This is no different from choosing place to go for your spring break holiday. A you know who you are and where you are, be you know your destination and see your chart your best way to get there.
Building your personal brand. We all know what brands are. We associate brands with some things that we like and some things that we don't take a look at this image. What does this brand represent? This symbol used by the BMW car company in Germany is well known around the world for creating superbly engineered high performance and luxury cars. These cars are also featured in James Bond movies.
BMW is not known for making trucks which can be used for rugged offroad heavy duty work. Making trucks would tarnish BMW brand name of making high performance cars. It has taken the BMW brand decades to build and nurture this identity. Similarly, we need to understand what your brand is, what you are good at what you are known for, and what you're probably not very good at as well or not very interested in. There is literally no need for concern at this stage. If your brand definition is not entirely clear, because a lot of what you want to do today will likely change over time.
Someone who thinks she wants to be a nurse could change after two years of college leading her to pursue a business program instead. Even so, it is good to define some basic traits, strengths and likes about you In the next lessons, we will learn more about how to know what you're good at and what kind of career you might like. If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you
