Hello and welcome to lecture seven have become an author self publish your books worldwide I am teaching Russian was lecture seven, preparing a paperback preparing an Amazon paperback. Now I will show you how to prepare an Amazon paperback interior using a blank template and a populated template. Let us close this slideshow and we'll move to Microsoft Word. I have a few files in this folder. Let us open the first file. This is the blank template that I use to populate my book.

I show you the specifications and formatting of this template. As you can see, this book does not have any content to just a blank template. But all the formatting is done All I have to do is rename the chapter names and fill the contents and write the book title, subtitle and author name. Now I will show you the formatting specifications of this template. Go to Page Setup. If we look at the margins, point seven 5.7 5.75 point 5.2 I can set it back to point one three as I showed you in the previous lecture.

Multiple pages made our margins paper, paper size five by eight inch layout. Each section starts on a new page. Different headers and footers different order and even different First Page Header a footer is point five inch from the edges. Okay, now, I switch on the other formatting to show you If you look at the table of contents, just switch off the formatting for a moment. All the chapters, start on an odd page. Always returned the formatting again to show you the sections.

So all the initial pages have Roman numbers and English numbers from chapter one onwards. Now I'll explain the sections. This is Chapter one. Once I fill this, and end, there is a section break at the end of chapter one and the new chapter we'll start off on a new page. Similarly, Chapter Two There's a section break at the end of chapter two and the new chapter will start after that on a new page. Similarly, chapter four, and a new chapter starts after that.

Now we will go to the paragraph settings, I just switch off this for a moment so that it is easy for you to see. Right click paragraph, the alignment is justified. The indentation first line is point two inch and the line spacing is 1.15. Basically, when I say indentation is first line is point two, it means the first letter of the paragraph is slightly ahead. He as you can see from the words Though here, it is about point two inch inside the paragraph. This makes it easy for reading and recognizing the paragraph to paragraph because without this first line indentation, your mind will not be able to recognize that if you have switched over to a new paragraph or you're reading within the same paragraph for example, if I just switch off the paragraph here it will become like this.

After you finish reading this word, your mind may not know that it is it has switched over to a new paragraph. This but if you have this first line indentation Your mind will understand that now you are on a new paragraph. Way to close this Ensure you populate a template. Basically, I've used this template and filled my book into it. See the same word document. Now it is fully populated with my book information as the title, the subtitle, the attorney, the copyright information about the author, the table of contents, the preface and the book starts.

What I have done is renamed each of these chapter names to the appropriate chapters for my book. Now, what I will do is, I will export this to PDF one once the book is complete and you have done your spell check And ensure that every chapter starts on a odd pitch. Your book is ready to be exported to a PDF file. So select Print, select Add PDF, go to properties, I select high quality print in the PDF page size, I select five by eight. I uncheck this because I want to use the fonts that are in the Word document and not rely on system fonts. And I don't want to add any document information.

I set the page quality to black and white because it's an interior is a black and red book. The layout is portrait. Click ok. Click OK. Now it will ask me for a file name. Just give a file name. See now The word is getting converted to PDF. conversion is done.

Sure you This is how a PDF file looks like. But I show you how it really looks like they switch on the page display to two continuous. This looks like I opened the book. On the right side I have the book title, the subtitle, and the author name. On the right page I have the table of contents. Now this PDF file appears as if I'm holding the book open in my hands.

On the left side, I have the copyright on the right side have your table of contents right side preface and then the chapter start. As you can see, all the pages are our pages. Now I show you how the chapter names for example, the first chapter name is the walk in the park chapter name walk in the park. Every right page has the chapter name. And every left page has the book title. Similarly, chapter two.

Every right page has the chapter name. The left page at the book title chapter name, book title odd page. Chapter name, chapter, book title chapter starts on an odd page. Now this is the file that we can use to upload on Amazon, along with the cover. So this is how you prepare an interior for your Amazon paperback. It's not rocket science, it's quite easy.

All you need is a blank template like this, I can provide you a template or you can also download such templates on the internet. For the books that you are preparing, you can download templates for five by eight 5.5 8.56 by eight and so on. And just start typing in your content and ensure that you renamed all the chapter names to the names that you have and the contents to the content that you return and ensure that the page numbers Set as per a professional book, and once it is done, do a complete spellcheck to a complete page numbers check and then export to a PDF file.
