When a sick person is being cared for, it must be without judgment.

What happens when you mix judgment with healthcare? You might have a scenario where a lawmaker actually states that healthy people should pay less for health insurance than sick people because healthy people "…lead good lives, they’re healthy, they are doing the things to keep their bodies healthy." This statement is wrong on so many levels. Of course, as this Congressman conceded, some people are sick "through no fault of their own." He went on to say that those people should not be penalized. One obvious problem with this is the question of who will be the judge. The same people who decide that you don't really need the treatment your doctor prescribed? Any penalties associated with unhealthy behaviors can not be penalized after you’re sick. Tax cigarettes. Tax junk food. Give tax breaks to offset gym memberships. But when a sick person is being cared for, it must be without judgment.
