Welcome to meditation for day four. Today will meditate for eight minutes. The first thing I'd like you to do is create the physical frame. So sit comfortably, hips are higher than the knees, shoulders over the hips. Chin is level, spine is erect. crown of your head is the highest point on your body.
Gently raise the shoulders to the ears and lower them down the back. And we'll close the eyes relax the face. Least any tension from your forehead. And for this meditation, we're going to parse a distinction between discernment and judgment. The Buddha thought that this distinction was very important, because the mind tends to lean towards blanket generalizations that when you look at are sometimes very inaccurate. So let me give you an example of the distinction between a discernment and a judgment.
Discernment tournament is looked both ways before you cross the street. A judgement is all cars are bad. So what we're going to do for this meditation is just observe the thoughts as they come into our mind screen and try to notice if they lean towards Words, distinctions or judgments. So if the thought comes into your mind, my leg is cramping. I should adjust it. That's a discernment.
But if the thought comes into your head, I'm so terrible meditation. This is such a waste of time. I don't even know what possessed me to try it. That's a judgment. So again, just notice when your mind is discerning, and then notice when it's a judge And will gently guide our attention back into the room.
